After returning from a week touring France, i washed the bike off including the Vario panniers whilst expanded, and now one wont retract   when i pull the lever it will nearly go through 90 degrees then goes stiff, i have taken all the mechanism off so that the moving section should just slide in and out on its own, but it takes 2 of us to be able to slide in in and out :nenau ive checked for debre etc but nothing, even smeared some vasaline but still not sliding easy.

Has anyone had any similar problems with there Vario's ??

By the way it the exhaust side.

hi,

maybe try squirting some wd40 around the whole area where it retracts, maybe do the same with the moving parts inside?

This problem has been covered before so try a search.

I don't know how to do a link:blast

Anyway spray wd40 between the two sides that slide and that usually fixes it.

Mine was just like that until it fell off and bounced down the road. That cured it! It's as easy as slipping a condom on now! :D

Also sprayed with WD40 and still hard to slid it manualy, maybe need to refit gubins and then try :nenau

Never found condoms easy to put on either :blast:augie

Thanks for the advise, WD40 / Vasaline done the trick, because i took the mechanism out of both side it was hard to slide the outer section in and out without it jamming due to not being square :blast Put it all back together and slides in and out a treat :bounce1:thumb
