Hi guys, finally found a set of Vario panniers but the lugs are broken on one side.

Part 8 on this link:

However, I cannot reference this part in the UK - anyone know the price?

Also is it a simple undo the torx screws and replace or are any other parts needed as I need to seek recompense from the seller....

I would say that is number 14...the whole plastic part

But your photos are too close to be sure

$125 Euros but you don't say whether thats left or right

Ahh, from the back it looks like the top part with two lugs just bolts off?

I don’t know, I certainly wouldn’t be very happy with it repaired TBH.

I’m still waiting to see the seller’s response.

Not happy but if he won’t play ball I’ll maybe try and find another Vario broken in a different way!

I reckon a few hot staples, some vee preparation and some plastic welding and that lug could be made pretty solid again if all else fails.

If the seller didn't tell you about the damage ask for your money back .
When I was looking at buying some verios I steered clear of damage ones.
Hope you get it sorted,
Ian.

I am quite surprised by his reaction and not an immediate apology or offer to sort it as most fellow bikers would. I very politely pointed out the issue via message and preferable solution, eg, I buy the replacement part to fix it and he refund this or I bring them all back for a full refund.

Just taken back a bit - I went to collect them with my wife, he's a mature, sensible BMW biker and local instructor also working with local Motorad dealers - chatted lots, seemed very nice genuine guy, I did not think to examine them closely before putting cases in car as I had obviously asked on messaging before: "...any cracks, damage etc...?".

AD: "BMW 1200/1250GS Vario panniers and top box. Few scratches and odd ding, good condition. You’ll need to get box’s coded to your bike key."

His reply on being shown the damage photographs: "No I hadn’t noticed that, they’ve been sat in the garage since I took them off the GSA so that must have been like that before. I always had them on the bike so it must have been like that all the time I had it."

And: "Is it solid? If it is, see what it’s like on the bike, we can take it from there."

I won't name him or post the FB profile/ad but pretty pi$$ed off TBH.

Looks like it is part 8 'locking mechanism'.

Pics below - with evidence of attempted glue repair....hmmmm

Thanks again chaps for the input - very pleased to say we have a resolution as he has agreed to fund the broken part and refunded that amount to me today. The rest of the panniers are all perfect so a happy ending.

All I need now if anyone can help ;) :giggle: is I need some spare wafers to re-code the locks?

If you're anywhere near a dealer they will usually let you have some for free.
