Vario side case mounting ill considered

Not sure about the thought that went into the vario side cases mount. They hook over just like previous but pressure point on the back of the case itself is a very thin casting ridge that gets the finish scratched off and wear line on the back of the cases. I can't remember how this was done on the 1250 but the cases (which I still have) show no pressure point wear anywhere

Varios on the 1200 and 1250 have a mounting point on the front that slots onto a sticky out bit on the pillion footrest
