Is there any other luggage with the same fitting as the Vario top box?

I have the BMW Luggage Plate fitted in place of the pillion seat and have also removed the rack so that I can fit the top box in the pillion position.

However, at times, I'd like a smaller box or soft bag on the pillion rather than the Vario box.

Can you use the box as a back rest like that or is it too far away?... how do you get it to mount.. looks like you need to buy a plate from your description... would be good for solo long runs.. I have one coming it so might investigate..
Guess this is it https://www.bmw-motorrad-bohling.co...MI4dnVwaKb4wIVpr_tCh3zJwBVEAQYAyABEgLti_D_BwE

Yes that's the luggage plate. If I lean back far enough I can just about get my back protector to touch the backrest on the top box. I'm not the biggest guy at 5' 9" and 12 stone. I guess if you were the average sized tosser then you might well be able to use it as a backrest. However, you'd need to still be flexible enough to hurdle over the seat to get onto the bike.

When I bought this bike, I got the full luggage set. I'm not a big fan of top boxes but since I'd bought it, I thought I might as well try using it. I never carry a pillion so fitting it in the pillion position is a much better idea in that it doesn't upset the handling to any noticeable degree.

Yesh - that one will fit as well, and takes a single lid. If you rid to your nearest stealer they may have one sitting around on on a bike that you can try and see.

Thanks. Yes I was just thinking about checking with local dealers to see if any of them have one in stock. :thumb

I found out today that the R1200R small top box doesn't fit. Hey-ho, back to the drawing board.

The XR and R1200RT top boxes are different. I have a large XR on my GS, and also a R1200R style for my K1600 - they are not interchangable :blast

The small/large XR top box will fit in place of a Vario, and a lot of XR riders fit the Vario top box instead of the XR one.

£60, Posted , i can supply photos,
there is access to what was the underseat area which is deeper due to the plate,
It releases the central cover by the key as per pillion seat,

I'll have it, send you a pm
