Vario's don't fit a TE !

FFS i pay £15k and expect to fit my own washers are you pissed ! ill tell my customer tomorrow I've fitted your bath but you have to fit your own taps ! Ill let you no what they say .

Feck rejecting it ill get more pleasure being a cnunt and harassing them every day until its put right and not with repair washers and they can fix/replace my broken vario's .

Good luck with that one as I think BMW will probably claim that as a plumber you are not suitably qualified to work on one of their bikes even if it is watercooled :D

Mine fit just fine on both sides and I don't have washers - are you sure that there is a real problem or is it just a lack of user technique when trying to fit the panniers?

No

Dealers cannot fit them so user technique does not come into the equation

This is not a user issue. I have spacers fitted on one side only by the dealer, in order to fit panniers.
I am told that the dealers had 2 bikes with the same problem.
I have a email from the dealers informing me that the bike is safe and the problem would hopefully be sorted by the 600 mile service, now on 3500 miles.
I have asked the dealers what they intend to do. They can only tell me BMW have yet not advised on a solution.
I am off to France for 10 days, on my return I intend to press for a conclusion.

Ay when Pidcocks tell me there having the same problem with some bikes than its Deffo not user technique and tbh that was my 1st thought am i doing something wrong one phone call later suggest's I'm fitting them correctly, its the fooking bike tolerances that are out how can they get it wrong ! id have thought the frames are built in a jig so everyone is the same or are being built by Fred in his shed tbh looking at the dog sh1t welds suggests the fella with the ark stick has one eye as well, they need to sack the fooker.

I've got the panniers to fit as per instructed by the dealer, I've removed the little black platic trims off the pillion pegs these are the locating trims I've actually cut them down, and the pannier leg that the trims sit in have been trimmed internally to get them to fit, my bike is way out of tolerance and one pannier is worse than the other to fit .

On my return to the UK the dealer is getting the bike back to sort out and replace the panniers, I've already told em I'm not having repair washers i want it how it should have left the factory and not bodge it to fit after.

15k bike wants sorting, at worst its a new subframe i would think for a proper fix..:nenau

BMW have used this pannier fitting method before, with the older system panniers

I can't believe that they could foul up a previously successful system (attaching to pillion footrest makes them more secure :) )

Not good guys & I feel sorry for you especially at the height of the touring season & you need the panniers to work

Went in to dealers this morning with my mate who was having his first service done, they also changed his subframe over so the varios fit correctly no washers or bodge up new subframe done in half an hour. Nice one cannons!

So are all the bikes with this issue getting new sub-frames?

Was this problem just a small batch made at the same time or is it an on going problem?

Hope all those affected get a swift outcome:thumby:

Swapped a subframe in half an hour? :eek

My Varios fit perfectly ordered with the bike, no washers or any other bodges required :D

Maybe the problem is with the plastic bits on footrest hangers??????
