Postcode search in CN v8

Just spoke to Garmin to check if loading CN v8 on a Quest 1 would allow it to do full postcode searching.

The answer was NO.

The firmware in the Quest 2 is different from the Quest 1 and it is required (as well as the CN v8 hidden map data) to enable full postcode searches.

If you buy a Navigator II from BMW, don't you get 'update subscriptions' for free as well as the unlock? If not, I've been misled

BMW is a little different from standard Garmin. If you are smart you will get two versions of the map for free. But not more.

Version 1: Since the unlock code is provided in the box you don't have to register your license at www.garmin.com. Instead you can use the included map v7 for a year or two.

Version 2: When your v7 map becomes outdated you can register your device and get v9 or v10 at zero charge.

My advice is to wait until v9 before you register. The differences between v7 and v8 are not huge.
