Versys 1000

Looking good. Did you use the Kawasaki mount?

Yup.
It comes with a quick release bracket which is a bit pointless as you can't completely remove if you have the GPS wired up to the battery !! But it's neat though and the cable slots neatly in the groove behind the clocks so you can hardly see it.

Check out this aftermarket seat that a muppet Merkin ordered. He's got the 2015 orange bike and wanted an orange seat to go with it-which would have looked dreadful. But not as dreadful as........

I saw a black version on an SA - equally vile. It's a Yank thing where comfort takes precedence over appearance.

looks like a Russel day long saddle. good job you sit on it and not look at it, would not like to look at it for a second let alone a day long.

Decided to get panniers after all for longer trips.

Seem very good quality and fit nicely.

Also decided to change the horn for something with a tad more oomph !!

??

I guess some people just have to get the latest all singing and dancing bike nudging £20k, but having owned over 50 bikes, many of them new,I must say the Versys is turning out to be one of the better ones and a bargain at more than £5k less than the other bikes in the above test.

And I loved the nineties !!

I know it's a cliche, but the more electronic jiggery-pokery you have, the more there is to go (expensively) wrong. And anyway, the Versys has Bosch ABS, two power levels and traction control. Just how much more do you need?

The versys is a far sight more reliable than the new GS that's a given, I know that from experience, go on http://www.versys1000.com/index.php?action=forum
and read the pages of complaints, O there isn't any nor is there a note from the mods asking not to slag the bike off that you just paid out good money for and has gone wrong,
the cycle world review that TRV2 posted has 2 videos on youtube with 9 bikes and testers none of them slate the Big V but they say the vibes on the XR are unbearable, the handling on the Multistrada is crap and the Caponord is just a joke, as pretty much of you know I've owned all of the adventure style bikes and in some cases more than one as the next bike I bought wasn't as good as the one I sold, the versys is that good im seriously considering cancelling the Africa twin I've had a deposit on for 3 months as i'm sure ill go back to another big V within a couple of months, could be another costly exercise !!

You may have owned them adventure boy but have you ridden many of them past the first 600 mile service? Let alone worn a tyre out :D??

I've ridden the verses and wasn't keen on it really . Put together well enough and its cheapish but not over keen on 4 cylinders. We're all different thank god . The v storm 1000 @ £7500 new has got to be the best value new adv bike out there. And reliable

That does look neat.
Can the versys speedo be flicked from mph to kph ?
I had a good look at the versy at the show ,and it's realy growing on me.

I think the handbook said something about being able to swap from one to the other by pressing a combination of buttons all at the same time.
