Just a long shot here. I have two old Garmin GPS 3+ units that I use on the bike & the Jeep for just marking places of interest (green lane entrance/exits etc). They are both standard with just the base maps loaded & the last update from Garmin (2002 I think :augie ).
What I'm after is some better detailed maps of the UK, currently when I'm in the sticks it's just a blank area with only main roads showing if I zoom out. I've looked at the Garmin site but it doesnt list any software/maps available anymore for this product. Anyone got any idea where I can find some & if it's even possible with these units (The setup menu shows no maps loaded, but free memory to upload some).

Ta:confused:

What you need is an old copy of Garmin Roads and Recreation UK or Europe, it will be quite out of date but usable. No unlock required.

The map segments of R&R are very small designed to fit the memory size of the GPS’s of the day. The 3+ only holds 1.44 meg of mapping, ie very little, in fact so little I couldn’t get all the mapping on for a 100 mile round trip to the Lakes. Still a great little GPS that navigated us from the UK to Switzerland and back :thumb2

Great GPS, I used them with World Map for my first few off road trips around Morocco.
Just load a few waypoints in and off you go with more sense of achievement than following the yellow brick road with Moroccan Topographic good as it is.
