Garden twine.I’ve bought a 6 litre Desert Fox bladder which I want to attach to my top box on X-Adv to give me a 230/250 mile range .
I need something very short to attach the D-rings on the bladder to the loops on the top box

That’s not the point . Going with a mate who has 250 mile range and want similar to fill up at same time .What’s the standard range, without the thing? Chances are, your bladder will give out (more than once) before the bladder on the back kicks in.
That requires great deal of patienceJust get some big zip ties and cut them off when you want to remove the bladder
Mate is actually quite a chilled out bloke.A fuel bag is bollox in Europe. They are quite slow to fill and you have to be careful emptying them - inserting the nozzle in the bag without fuel going everywhere etc. If your mates can't put up with you stopping 50 miles before they have to then maybe they need to relax a bit.
In the Picos 200 miles would take quite some time to ride anyway, unless you ride like an arse. You've obviously never been to the picos with a mate on an m1000r then,or a vfr1200
Er the bmw m1000r can empty the tank in less than 100 miles....In the Picos 200 miles would take quite some time to ride anyway, unless you ride like an arse.
The thing about the fuel bag is you'd spend extra time filling it, strapping it on, then after 100kms or so unstrapping it, fitting the nozzle, slowly and carefully filling the tank, then re fitting it to the topbox before riding on. Time saved? Nil.
ExactlyAre you riding to Afghanistan?
Surely if you have to stop to empty the bladder then in Euroland, you are never a million miles away from from PFS.
- Why lug extra fuel high up? (Pendulum)
- You’ll be holding up your biker mates regardless, whether you fill up from the bladder or a pump.
- You will be holding them up twice as long filling up the bike and the bladder again some distance later.
- It seem that you are creating a problem that does not need creating.
- You creating yourself a faffing situation, that will soon get very old.
- Not least that you have created yourself a problem in finding shorter straps
In MRA you can plan fuel stops based on your range. I know it does involves “faffing”….![]()
You are welcome and well done. Thanks for all the useful replies about straps.
Should be sorted now .
What was the solution then? Could you please share it for the fellow biker mates, who might find them self in same predicament. Thanks for all the useful replies about straps.
