In preperation for a trip down the west coast of France that starts on Saturday I decided to top up the ACF 50 on my Adventure because we will be on the coast road and stopping at beaches etc.

I normally throw old towels over the wheels and spray the bike then do the wheels with a damp rag and paint brush but in my wisdom I decided to mask the rubber and break disks on the front with masking tape.
Worked perfectly and kept the slippy stuff off the wrong bits.

Unfortunately by the time I had finished the back wheel with the rag and brush I forgot the front and rolled the bike tape and all down my drive.
There goes the next hour taking the wheel off and stripping the brakes to clean off both the ACF50 from the tape but also the masking tape glue that smeared as the brakes tore the tape off.

I'm not sure if the moral of this is "if it's worth doing it's worth doing right" or if I'm just a tit.

Just how salty did you expect your awesome steed to get on the coast roads of western France?

Were you planning on riding along the beach, splashing up a bow wave in the surf? Or just parking up in the car park to chill with like minded?

Not a Tit, but maybe a masochist to post that on here when you had no need to.

Good luck, as prisoners are not usually taken on this forum :augie

I thought he was planning on storming the beaches from a landing craft, when I read it! :blast

Who and why use ACF50.............. in mid summer & in temps of 30c

That is fucking stupid

Not my choice, no matter the time of year.

ACF is designed to protect Aircraft alloy - not paintwork.

A good spray-on hard cavity wax does a better/cheaper job (IMO)

This is the internet forum equivalent of masochism, without the sex or pain, or money.

Just humiliation.

He'd need to be going to Normandy, Iwa Jima or Anzio for the full-on authentic bikermate experience. The beaches off Chatelaillon-Plage, just don't cut it.

You're fecked... I like you live next to the sea... Hard not to in 60N... My GS has dissolved 2x over since buying... I've tried ACF on the house but TBH, it's been a little expensive...

He is hoping it won't turn into that Jenson wreck advertised somewhere else :D Quite possible with the new WC so hopefully this one will last the length of the holiday.

Maybe he is worried the ferry will sink.
Seriously AFC50 in the height of summer because your going to ride on a coast road! Sell your bike mate and get a boat :augie

I live 300 yards from the beach, and none of my bikes, scooters or cars have ever been treated with anything but WD40 wiped on the stands, and not a Speke of corrosion on any of them. No salt on the roads in winter though down here. Stop over thinking it and enjoy your hols.......:beerjug:
