Had the bike about a year runs spot on no probs, went to get a few wiring supplies locally, got on the bike ignition light was on yet the keys are in my hand? put the keys in turn on ignition oil light comes on ignition light goes off, starts no probs everything works, switch off, ignition light comes on, take keys out light still on.

Anyone got any thoughts!

Steve

PS had to disconnect battery to turn light off, removed all fuses that didn't work disconnected ignition unit on top of battery no joy

Are you making a short somewhere under the seat as you sit on it?

Electrical problems can sometimes stem from worn carbon brushes on the starter motor - I had issues earlier this year, although not the same symptoms, mine was problems with the lights not working. Replaced brushes on starter motor following advice from mike p and all ok.

Yes, they are easy to replace and fixes all manner of strange electrical faults on Ks. While you're in there probably worth checking alternator drive rubbers. Another common K75 issue.
