Hello. Please could I seek your advice. I'm a really, really new to motorbikes, first time ever on a motorbike this year, passed test in July and for the last 2 months have been riding my new BMW F800GS (63 plate). So far clocked up over 2,500 miles, it's fantastic wish I had gotten into biking years ago.

Any who, I bought bike as ex-demo from main dealer with nobbly tires, and had no problems for the last couple of months. This week the BMW garage replaced the tires for me, I opted for Heidenau K60 Front 90/90 -21 TT 54 T and Heidenau K60 Scout M+S 150/70 B17 TL 69 T, upon recommendation from a friend, While the bike was in the garage getting the tires replaced, BMW mentioned they needed to do something under warranty also at the same time (on the receipt is says REP - Technicans Advisory Report ???).

Anyway, over the last couple of days, I've noticed a strange vibration. At first I thought it was the new tires (but I've gone from really nobbly tires to not so nobbly, so don't think that's the problem). I also though maybe wheel alignment. However its weird; if I coast I don't feel the vibration; on idle or when revving the engine I don't feel any vibration, its only when engine is engaged I feel the vibration !?

Sorry, I feel like an idiot not being able to explain properly, any advice for troubleshooting steps, so I can explain to garage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much

Paul

If you're sure it's not your tyres or wheel balance check your chain tension.

Check rear wheel alignment also , since the wheel has been out of the bike.

Is it in all gears, at somewhere between 5 - 6k revs?

They are pretty vibey, it's just a characteristic of the engine. (once you've eliminated any potential mechanical problems, of course)

I've got Grip Puppies on mine, they help a bit - and also, try relaxing your grip on the bars - you should be nice and light on them, not have em in a death grip!
