vibration through the bars

I tried the grip puppies no joy

added bar risers helped but still numb fingers

getting the carpel tunnel operation next week and this hopefully is the only thing to cure this type of numbness.

The last rideout i had to turn back after 15 miles the numbness just got worse.
Had the numbness from day 1 now done 7000 miles and still got it.

I have also fitted a cruise control to help but still no joy.

You need to get checked out for carpel tunnel and take it from there before you cure this problem.

Hope this has helped

Well thanks for the advice lads. It may well ,have to be that, a good idea, I got a friend onto a gs for a test ride and he was the same , when we went back and mentioned it about both of us , The salesman all of a sudden became an osteopath:blagblah:blagblah ( aint that clever!!!!) something about certain people and resonance's of the gs mmmmmmm!!!!bullshit ,bullshit,
thanks again ,everybody ,for the advice

I had this bad with my 09 GSA. My hands became numb after about 10 mins and kept like it for most of the ride. I kept having to shake each hand every few minutes to get the feeling back. Tried grip puppies which slightly improved things but it was still a problem and spoilt the ride every time. I didnt get it on my 08 GS which is strange but that bike was smoother than the adventure without doubt.
In the end I sold the GSA and bought the BMW F800R.
No numbness, no wind noise, handles like a dream and does 70mpg all for £6.5k otr.
I miss quite a few things about the GS 'tractor' and one day may be tempted back to a GS, but it would not be the GSA with it's vibration issues.:mmmm

gs vibration

After a week of owning a 09 gsa i noticed a lot of vibration through the front of the bike,a few trips to the dealers i was told a few of the o9 models are like that. Before anyone says i need miles on i have owned 5 gss so know what to expect, after 6 months and 4,000 miles i have come across a way to solve it i have purchased a 09 1300 gt problem resolved good luck.

second that, I fitted grip puppies, strangley not for the vibration, due to the fact the existing grips were well worn. I did find it made alot of difference to the vibration, although originally I had got used to it as one of the GS quirks!

My early 2004 GS seemed to run a bit rough, but no sensors showed as faulty with my GS911.

I pulled the lower mini coils and found one to be cracked and the other split wide open by corrosion of the internal laminations. No surpises when you consider how much road salt and water gets sprayed up at them. A new lower mini coil smoothed the engine out considerably. Note that the lower coild are 'handed' left and right with differing part numbers, the upper coils are identical and interchangeable.

It now feels a bit rough again so gonna change the other lower mini coil and put a new set of spark plugs in it. Also fitting grip puppies, but due to worn heated grip rubbers and not because of heavy vibes.

You will need a torx socket to remove the plastic cover holding the lower mini coils in place but it could be worth a check.:nenau

EDIT: I would also recommend some careful setting up time with the rocker arm endfloat and valve clearances plus throttle body balance at idle (requiring a GS911) and at revs (manometer, twinmax, carb gauges etc)

this is getting a bit technical for me :augie If the timing was out or running a bit rough as you guys put it , would they have known or noticed it at the last service/mot?:comfort
