I've got a CDR with a single wmv file on it which contains a 40min recording of a lap round the TT course.

Does anyone have a suggestion for simple editing software to be able to crop a section of the file & save it as an MPEG. I don't want to have to buy unless necessary as this is the only use I'll ever make of it, so freeware would be useful.

Cheers,

i've used this.

very easy to use & seems to have 7 day trial which i think is fully functional.

if you know someone with a Mac - blag a go and use 'imovie' (comes free with a mac) to edit it/add sound etc. It's v.v.easy to do, and has options to export for web etc. You can also burn it to DVD using 'idvd' while you are at it, whilst marvelling at just how lovely the Mac enviroment is compared to Windoze.

(no bias here then)

Success....

Thanks for the suggestions - Cookies was a peach & so easy to use.

I've now split the file into three segments showing:

Ballacraine to Kirk Michael - 43.4Mb
Rhencullen to Sulby - 23.3Mb
The Mountain Course - 72.5Mb

They are all Windows Media (wmv.) files &, even using Winzip, they are no smaller so it did what I wanted but there is no way to post these to the forum.

Any suggestions?
