video to dvd

I am trying to copy a video to DVD, it is a home made video not a comercial one so no copyright issues.
I plug video player and DVD recorder into TV and play Video,and record that on DVD but all I get Sound, no picture.

So what am I doing wrong

I would have thought you need to plug the video into the DVD, not the TV.

ALDI have now got a piece of kit called "DVD MAKER". I assume with that you can do what you want to do. Costs £24.99 or something like that.

I was gonna buy it myself but my video recorder thing has packed up.
