Vines

Just to add my two-penny worth. I've bought 3 bikes from Vines in the past and had very good after sales service from them.

I have had a couple of teething problems with the bikes, but never any serious problems. The problems were always dealt with promptly and no questions asked if under warranty.

On one occasion I'd bought a new bike and after one week the headlight would not switch on. I was about to go off on a continental tour, so I phoned Martin Pullen at about 11:30 on the Saturday morning and told him the problem. I was due to go off on the tour the very next day. The workshop closes at 1:00 and it would take me about an hour to ride to Guildford. Martin phoned me straight back and said that if I could get the bike to them that afternoon a technician would stay behind to fix the problem.

Needless to say, the bike was fixed and I had my tour!

On another occasion, I just mentioned that I wasn't very impressed with the exhaust silencer on my K1200RS and that it was very difficult to clean the tar stains from it. No problem sir, when you come in for the 18,000 mile service we'll change the outer sleeve for a new one.

Well they couldn't get it off, so they put a brand new complete exhaust system on the bike under warranty.

How's that for service.

Yet more praise for Vines.

Delivered my Rockster for it's first service today.

I've had a couple of niggles with it this first week,
Firstly the front wheel was chipped on handover.
The seat has a small tear right at the front (only about 5mm long).
The "softbag" has scratched the luggage bridge the first time I used it.
The exhausts were blowing slightly (Remus Y-piece).
The paint looks a bit thin in the very center of the rear wheel hub.

Not only was The service manager fully aware of all these concerns (prooves that sales and service talk to each other) - he agreed to sort them all out in one go.

PLUS - they hired me a bike for as long as it takes (shouldn't be more than a day or two) FOR FREE! (bet you can't guess what either!)

I am highly impressed so far.
I've yet to hear how the work is going, but hope to before 6.

Otherwise I shall continue to run in the brand new bike they've given me to play on! :D

A friend of mine had his R850 R serviced at Vines recently.
A 6000 mile service plus 2 new tyres, and a £40 collection charge.
Total cost? Over £600
I did laugh

Vines..... There two closest dealers seem to offer proper service. I now use South London after Vines service dept couldn't fix my bike after 4 tries. Have used SPC and found them very helpful.

Would seem that Vines have a problem.... pissed off customers.:(

I think with every dealership you're going to have good and bad stories - but the ones that tend to get a vocalisation on a forum are the bad stories.

So far I've had nothing but good service from Vines.

well after the first 100 bad posts, people may possibly start treating subsequent postings with a pinch of salt........

funny, I've just ordered a 1200GS from Vines, excellent service thus far, esp when compared to Puke Lane, who have now relocated to the Larkhall Estate. Got a deal on a heap of clothing from Penny, who's helpful, but does go on a bit!

I'll keep you posted.......
