Have to say that I've had nothing but fantastic service from Vines.

Was recommended to me by my brother (at that time an R1100S owner) and from the day I walked in I was treated like a family member. The head of the bikes section is now a good friend and whenever I am there he drags me round the back to show me something or other. :)

I suppose the fact that I've bought 6 bikes in 2 years there helps.... :o

Poor service from Vines

I gave up with Vines. Having ridden a friends I had made up my mind I wanted a new GS all I wanted to do was agree the spec and try the lower seat option.

The first time I went in, bright sunny Saturday, only one Salesman working and a queue of people to see him. Waited for 1/2 hour then gave up. Girl on reception had something on her fingernail that was more interesting than talking to a customer. Was offered an appointment in the week, I explained I worked in the week to pay for the bugger. Didn't seem to understand.

Second time no better. Never got to sit on one. Receptionist must have a great screensaver as she avoided all eye contact with customers.

Went to North Oxford, got the service and advice I wanted. Bought a bike. Happy with everything since.

I don't think I've ever even spoken to the receptionists at Vines - they're for the car section aren't they??

I was in vines got a receptionist to find me a sales person they offered! I never asked! had a (free) coffee (in a nice cupwith saucer) delivered and got introduced to a chap off the forum (name whitheld for reasons of politeness) who was looking and haggling for an HP2...

How did it go?

the receptionist (cute blonde haired girl) pointed us to the loung through the back of the showroom...big LCD TV complimentry cold drinks plus coffee

we were in the lounge for about 10mins and our sales person came to find us

very nice staff very friendly and helpfull :thumb2

Give CW Motorcycles in dorchester a try, very helpful, they didn't get dealer of the year for nothing.

Personally, I've always had a good experience with Vines on the sales side (not always on service!). SWMBO and I have had 5 bikes from them in the last 5 years (2 new and 3 ex demos). Always been able to haggle a good deal on the ex-demos, less so on the new bikes - but that's simply a function of supply and demand. When I bought my 650GS no problem getting a deal, same with my RT and SWMBO's 650 CS. Couldn't get a penny of the 1200GS - but this was just 6 months after the bike was launched and they pretty much chose who they sold them to. Simple economics really. That said, I've always found them easy to deal with and pleasant folks - but too busy on a Saturday. Much easier in mid week and as someone mentioned above, it never hurts to go in a few days before the end of the month - they'll have a target to hit / bonus to earn and are more likely to want to deal. Oh, and the coffee is always good! :D

I have always had very good service from Vines having bought both new and used:thumb I have also found the service deptment very helpfull although I don't like the £25 charge for a loan bike:eek:

just had my HP in and out of Vines had a few issues with it as it came from Mr. Pavey and Co. in Wales no issues or quibbles just hang on there have a coffee we'll sort it out.

Got everything repaired (mostly replaced) cos the bike has had a very hard first 1600 miles. Now sweet as! Also would DO NOT GO THERE ON A SATURDAY! It's full.... to the top!

New showroom should be open in 2-3weeks should make it all better as the placed in jam packed with people behind desks
