I’ve got a spare set of beak and centre tank panels so I can vinyl wrap them at my leisure.
I thought the centre panel would be relatively easy but looking at it I’d not noticed the deep recess at the front. See photo.
Had anyone wrapped this panel and if so how did you go about it.

I haven’t. Don’t know anyone who does it. I’ve had a price of £100 to wrap both panels but thought I’d give it a try myself. The other option would be paint. I’m after a satin white finish.

I’d say even a decent and experienced vinyl chap would struggle to do that without obvious lines, so would have a go myself - good thing is, it can be cocked up abnd removed and is inexpensive enough to try.

I’d spray them personally. In fact I wouldn’t, I’d let someone do them.

To Vinyl wrap something is harder than it looks. I recently wrapped a topbox and was surprised at how fiddley it was to get the vinyl to go where I wanted to to. In particular, internal curves where material had to be stretched or removed. Also, it is time consuming and frustrating to have a section 95% in place and then make an unsightly mistake - a cut or crease that you can’t live with and have to start again. £100 for a professional job using air release vinyl seems reasonable to to me. A similarly professional paint job would be double that.

don't do it yourself.. I spent a Sunday trying to get the stuff on my panniers ali section... got one done, just.. but the second would not have it at all.. air bubles in the centre bit... lost a full Sunday, spent £25 on the wrap... and got nowhere... let a pro do it for £100 :)

Whats that paint you can pull off when your done with it... they do cars and wheels so is durable... that looks interesting also...

Just had mine done in a satin black, that bit was left, tbh you really can't see it, and agreed, its a lot harder than it looks, a black art.

Panniers are being done at the moment, I toyed with using U-POL raptor, the bed liner stuff, but I want to be able to revert to the original if required.

Fully agree - spend the £100!

Upol Raptor is brilliant stuff. Foul to spray on but so tough.

Patience is your friend when wrapping which is the opposite to the lack of patience from Wapping.
