Cant bloody believe it - got infected with a virus
probably my own fault, even got norton internet security suite
now i am usually very careful, i thought i was well protected with norton installed, obviously not
Anyway i seem to of picked three for the price of one, "backdoor.trojan" "dialer.dialplatform" and adware something or other which keeps changing my home page, anyway did the usual thing of running norton anti virus, it initailly found 12, yes twelve
infected files, went to quaratine them and delete them, seemed to go well, too well, last two would not delete, had to restart - did that ran virus scan again, bugger found 10 infected files this time
Went through the same process, still could'nt delete them etc - went onto norton website found the details of the three main virus's which seemed to be causing the problems, printed off the instructions on how to get rid of them, seemd quite simply, until i got to the part where i had to edit the registry on the computer, on that point i gave up, as i had to look for any values tht had changed, bit hard when you don't know what the value was int he first place
I know i thought i have 3 yrs worth of support from norton, i'll give them a ring, wanted 27 of my hard earned cash to remove the virus over the phone,
, next i try Dell as above got 3 yrs support from them, give them a ring, wont deal with me, cos i am not the named person on the contract have to speak to SWMBO
, anyway Dell want 57 squids for sending out an engineer to sort it out - sod that
Gave my mate Dave a bell, not a problem, he is going to sort it out (i hope), collect the computer from him tonight, the cost - one bottle of Wine
- and a bit more respect (rides a triumph speed triple), and don't worry - at this time twenty (ish) past three in the morning i am sat in work posting this, perhaps i should of posted this in the forum rant section
on the up side i'm on double bubble - working on a bank holiday
