If you have a demonic boss who gets you to work all the hours god sends, don't read any further. If, however, you have a computer at work that you'd like to use at home then carry on...

I tried to set up a VPN (virtual private network) once before, but it was stupidly complex and didn't work very well. I've now found this place and it's great! Instant VPN with no hassel! It allows you to use another computer remotely, so whatever software is on the other computer can be used anywhere. You just need to register both computers and set up the relevent passwords and off you go.

Advantages? It means I can pick up my daughter from school, then do a quote (or whatever work I need to do), without having to go back to the office. Genius!

I'm a bit dubious about these arrangements, like the Cyrix GotoMyPC offering, this involves you installing a piece of software on your machine which allows the Logmein website to control it. OK, you have to login in and use a password, but you are reliant on their security in making sure that no one else gets access to your system.

Of course, this may not be an issue for a home machine where you do no online banking or other financial operations.

It does get round the issue of not having a static IP address, which is what often prevents the use of other remote control software, such as the Remote Desktop in XP, and the Citrix version is very fast.

Just be aware of the risks.
