I have a Radeon ATI X700 graphics card. Nothing fancy, but it runs the games I want to run.

A couple of weeks ago I got a VPU recover thingy, the one that resets the graphics accelerator as it is no longer responding to driver commands. After a reboot it was fine, so I ignored it and carried on as normal.

This morning I had it again after about 1 minute in a 3d game, and this time I can't fix it. I've googled the problem and tried the 25473646 suggestions I could find, to no avail. I get less than one minute ingame before it flickers and pulls me out to the vpu recover message. Sometimes the monitor just completely switches off too. It's not happy :(

Has my graphics card had it? And if so why can I still post on here and surf etc? Last time my graphics card died the whole pc died with it, couldnt get a display at all....

I'm stumped. I am running the latest drivers, have uninstalled them, run Drivercleaner and reinstalled them.

So now I've got the whole weekend with no kids, and no Bill, and was rather looking forward to a bit of pvp...there's nothing quite like beating the snot out of some gobby teenager with a big fekk-off axe to set you up for the day :D but now it looks like my plan is foiled :(

Any ideas at all? Bearing in mind I have zero money and want to be back playing my little game in 3 minutes time. No pressure or anything ;) :P :D

Have you checked if the onboard cooling fan is working or partially clogged ?

Badabing....ten points to the demi-equine fella :thumb

That's exactly what it's turned out to be.........Dani's got trendy wooden floorboards rather than carpet and the dust gets around a bit....the fan's not working properly so we think it's that ;)

Normal service shall be resumed shortly :)
