I’m after a new car for my mum but an automatic this time .
She left the handbrake off yesterday 🙄

Does anyone know of a good reliable little car please ?

What about the bmw i3 that was for sale here? Nice and easy...
She will love it if she only does a few miles.

We had thought electric as she does hardly any miles but the concern is at 87 I’ve to go around to her house and charge her ring doorbell never mind her car . But we are considering it , I don’t know a great deal about EV’s myself hence the hesitation.

Fair enough. But driving it is a doddle. And it automatically locks into park when switch off.

I feel your pain having upgraded Mum from conversation and Sky only to internet and streaming.

As a nr 70yr old with issues
I'm considering giving up my DVLA license soon.
I took my fathers licence away and his car after he did a series of similar " things "
That was when he was 80yr old and losing his marbles
For your mother's safety and that of others .I think a family conference may be needed.
Insurance companies may be reluctant to insure your mother at 87.
I hope you get sorted
Good luck with the search

Cheers we are all having these conversations, my Dad passes away a couple of years away and she is so active hate to think what she would be like without a car.
She hasn’t been a danger yet to anyone and is pretty cautious, the police put it down as a technical fault after checking the car . It’s more us that think she didn’t put the handbrake on properly .

Insurance for an 87 year old is no problem, I have just arranged it for my mum who's the same age. It's not cheap, but easy to get

That photo suggests otherwise ... my mother gave up her car five years ago at 81. I took it to be serviced and the garage refused, as it had done fewer that 1,000 miles since the last MOT and service. She was having geriatric epilepsy, so was a danger...
