You sound like my Mother, she repeats herself a lot, she is 72 though.:rob

Reasonably realistic dates for your diary.

1. Saturday April 16 - 'Beginners only', day trip to France.

Probably depart on the train at about 07:30 - Returning 18:30.

This will mirror this year's not unsuccessful jaunt and will definitely suite anyone who has not been abroad before, not ridden for long or is an experienced rider who simply hasn't had the chance to ride across the water. Nobody will take the piss, as we all had to start somewhere.

2. Friday April 29 to Monday May 2 - Ardennes.

Probably depart on the train at about 09:30 - Returning 17:00. Date(s) subject to confirmation depending on me booking a suitable hotel, which I hope to arrange ASAP.

3. Saturday June 25 - Day trip to France.

Probably depart on the train at about 07:30 - Returning 18:30. This will bring in a shortish excursion around the canals and dykes up on the Belgian border. Again, nothing that one could not do a sports bike but the roads are often very narrow and not perfectly surfaced.

4. Friday July 15 to Wednesday 20 July - Dijon jaunt.

Probably depart on the train on Thursday late afternoon / early evening. - Returning 17:30. Date(s) subject to confirmation:

(i) Depending on me booking a suitable hotel, which I hope to arrange ASAP.

(ii) Depending on demand (and on hotel availability) I could probably lengthen this jaunt to be: Friday July 15 to Sunday July 24 or something similar, maybe giving us a stop for a couple of days away from Dijon, perhaps. If someone wanted to do the longer jaunt, but cannot spare / get all the time away, I may well be able to split it into two legs, no promises.

5. Saturday September 17 - Day trip to France.

Probably depart on the train at about 07:30 - Returning 18:30.

Note for anyone thinking of coming on this jaunt, but who lives much outside of the inner Essex, London, Kent area..... The light in the morning is definitely starting to go by then... so probably a dark start from home.

=======================================================

ALL THE TRIPS WILL INVOLVE THE MARKER 'DROP OFF' SYSTEM. I WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR TAIL ENDERS, PLEASE.

I HAVE NO GREAT PRESSING DESIRE TO LEAD ALL DAY AND EVERY DAY. SO ANYONE IS WELCOME TO LEAD SOME, ALL OR PART OF ANY JAUNT.

I WILL MAKE GARMIN GPS ROUTES AVAILABLE FOR EACH TRIP.

PUNTERS ARE WELL ADVISED TO BRING A REASONABLE MAP, JUST THE SAME.

Hi Richard,

Deffinately interested,
When you have info, give me a shout, also willing to do tail end charlie duties if required.

Cheers
Neil

PS
Don't mind sharing a room, providing the other person has ear plugs!

Right ho, folks.

Many thanks for all the replies.

I will lock the thread up whilst I sort out the replies I have received into their possible dates. I will then open separate topics for each trip and we can take it from there.

Cheers,

Richard

Jaunt cancelled - Saturday September 17 - Day trip to France

Saturday September 17 - Day trip to France

Sorry to anyone who had this one pencilled in, but I will have to cancel it.

Harlequins, for whom I have a season ticket, have announced the 2011-12 fixture list and are at home that day to Gloucester.

I would like to try to re-schedule but am now running out of spare dates, I'm afraid. If I can slot something in I will but may it will probably have to be at short notice.

Richard

Hi Richard,

We're disappointed but quite understand. We'll keep watch on here to see if you do manage to fit one in at short notice.

Best wishes,
Andy & Jen

OK

Probable new date: September 24 - 25

I am in Sweden the week before, so it may depend on my getting back on Friday night, but it's more likely than not.

I plan to make it a noonish departure on the Saturday, coming back on Sunday on a train at about 19:30ish.

Let's agree that this is a goer.....unless it's not (which it won't)....So, it's a goer :thumb2
