Dammit! My old Aplinestars GP Pros have finally given up the ghost - they're years old and have done a lot of miles but it looks like an accident from a few years ago weakened the front shin plate and its now cracked in half!

I have some lace up boots for the unbearably hot weather and a pair of boots for cold/wet winter riding but need something in between - this was where I used the GP Pros and my only complaint was that they werent waterproof, that would have made them just about perfect.

So can anybody recommend a decent pair of boots for for mostly summer use which are also waterproof?

BMW Pro Touring

I'm on my second pair now and use them most of the year round. Totally waterproof and pretty light weight. I've worn them on my trips to Spain and Italy and they're pretty comfy in the warmer climes.

bmw think theyre called biomex?? got a hinged ankle, sounds bit strange, had these boots for about six years, warm, waterproof, comfortable best pair of bike boots ever had, cost about £200 but worth evert penny, worn them last year to morocco and were good even in the hot weather. when these eventually wear out wouldnt consider anything else.

sidi vertigo goretex mine have done about 30-40000 miles and still good.never let a drop in and just had them resoled and healed at my local cobblers for £19

Depends where you want to draw the protection/comfort/practicality line but I used waterproof A-Stars SMX4s for years and they were pretty good for summer, as far as a waterproof boot can be.
To be honest, you're not going to get proper cool AND waterproof; one kind of cancels out the other.

I use those now, and absolutely love them. I wouldn't call them a summer boot though (and neither would anyone who had to share a room with me on a trip when I take them off!)

Timberland earthkeepers. Waterproof. Very very comfortable. And you can walk around off the bike without looking an extra out of starwars.
