Warm Weather Kit

Spend at least half year riding in temperatures of 25c and above. Trusty and trusted BKS suit just too hot even after Brian took it back into Exmouth factory and put in as many perforations as possible.

Any body have any experience of kit that gives good protection but ok for hot climate. Does not need to be waterproof?

In futile attempt to anticipate odd humour, nude riding or swimming trunks only flat on tank are too extreme for a man of my age.

Being able to take the goretex membrane out of the BMW Rally 3 combined with all it's venting makes it good for hot climates... Mine has been relatively comfortable in 40 degree C heat...

Try underarmour heat gear as the base layer.

Apparently widely used in Afghanistan by the troops as a technical base layer.
Hi tec material and compression fit technology does the biz, well thats what he told me when he sold me some.

I'm trying it in the US this month i'll let you know.

Rev-it air mesh jacket,and the matching trousers the name of which escapes me,im going to buy some for my trip down south,i have the revit off road jacket and dakar pants and have found them good quality,but a bit warm,the mesh stuff looks and feels good.........

I like the BM Savanna jacket and trousers combination. Probably enough protection with the jacket and trousers, and without the goretex linings it gives some airflow through the fabric whilst stopping me getting sunburnt. When it goets really hot just splash water over the t-shirt and it's nice and cool for about 1/2 an hour. If it gets cold / wet then in goes the linings / fleece / heated jacket.

I use the cheaper Nike Pro Heat base layer, works very well. After a hot day back of my T-Shirt would be wet with sweat (nice!)

Nike Pro heat gear, and no problems, keeps body temp much more stable. Also stops my arms sticking to inside of my jacket.

I've just bought an Evapo-danna? from airostitch. You soak it with water and as it evaporates it keeps you cool. I have'nt tried it yet but Bladerunner swears by it.

Hi i work in the south of France an have just got back from 10 days riding in Corsica ( highly reccomended) Myself and HWMBO wore summer jackets by FURYGAN bought at DAFY MOTO, branches throughout France and a web site. We both found them exellent when the heat was on, for early morning riding add a windstopper or at least a sweatshirt and carry waterproofs in your luggage for the odd shower, you wont be dissapointed. Shoulder elbow and some back protection are fitted but removeable at 129 euros not overpriced IMHO. Finaly a pair of Bering jeans with kneepads and full kevlar lining cool protected and IMHO cool looking. Cheers K.B.

They're f*ckin' good!!

A good soak will last 2 hours + - you get a wet front and cold neck which refreshes your head - as long as you are in the air flow. In Morocco at 43'c I was occasionally shivering!!

Once you are sorted with yer protective gear pop into your local cycle shop and get a couple of pro cycling shirts, they are brill in the hot weather. Thats what I use

how did you manage that?,
cheap alternative to cycle shirts are the army self wicking shirts, for a couple of quid you get a really good shirt for the heat

Another vote for Aerostich Evapodanna here..I've got a couple and they are excellent..just soak in water before you go out and they do provide an hour or two of 10 degrees difference (in feeling anyway)

My hot weather Moroccan kit is Hein Gericke Airtex stuff,but any decent airtex type suits will do the same....it's what you do beyond that that makes the difference....tipping half a bottle of water down your front will help a lot for example.

When it gets REALLY hot, do your vents up and get out of the airflow behind your screen...you'll feel cooler, and in fact, airtex stuff is then the WRONG thing to wear then
