Warnig light help!

I was out and about and the red warning triangle has come on with the brake failure light flashing fast anyone have any pointers to where to start.
I have done visual checks and clicked sidestand and brake switches to no avail...the rear brake seems weak.
Any help or ideas as to what has occurred welcomed.
The bike is a 04 gs that is dry stored with a charger and done very few miles in the last year and was trying to rectify that this year!

Jasp You need the Fault codes checked but I'm pretty sure you will end up finding that its the dreaded Servo ABS Failure

Its not a biggie though If you re pipe as per a standard bike and remove the Electronic section of the ABS unit and Seal it up well and reconnect it to the loom and secure it from bouncing around You will have a non ABS bike Only thing with a GS you will have to tape off or split the instrument panel and paint the ABS lamps with something like black nail varnish to stop them annoying

It seems that laying these bikes up with no fluid changes is an additional factor in failure

Steptoe removed the plungers and cleaned everything and had a bit of success but not with all of them

Bad week, my caddy van threw up an egr fault as well!!

OK, so I just investigated a bit further and when you turn the ignition off and restart everything works ok and the brake light goes off when you start moving off as per usual and the fault only happens when I use the rear brake alone...it seems ok when I just use the front brake,but this is linked!! So I am confused....is this consistent with servo failure?
I will ring Church Stretton motorcycles this week and see if they can check the fault codes.

Before ringing anyone take the rear brake light bulb out and have a good look at it and its connections. If possible, clean up the connectors and fit a new bulb.

Also check the brake light switches.
You can check the function with a meter.
They are easy to adjust.

also the servo is kicking in normally front and back until the fault and then only kicks in with the front brake.

Bulb changed and switches checked but not with a meter, they come on in the very first bit of travel.Is this a good enough test or what should I be looking for with a meter?
The rear disc looks/smells like it may have got quite hot yesterday but not something I noticed on my foreshortened run out.

The switches are NO (normally on) The activation breaks the circuit. They could be borderline.
They are easy to adjust so go ahead and do it. Also make sure all the normal brake service is done and you do not have a sticking caliper.

Same thing happened with my 54 plate about 4 weeks ago. Servosectomy performed using bits from Motoworks, relatively easy job if you are handy with the spanners. Total cost less than 50 quid.Good luck.

Mine has the later type ABS so I'm no hep there. However, my rear disc was getting very hot. I unplugged the speedo sensor (to be 100% sure its wasn't caused or affected by the ABS and it was still much too hot. The upshot was a failed master cylinder. The old type have a poor dust seal and sure enough mine was dirty and corroded inside. A new (to me) used rear master from Sherlocks and it was all good again.
