Warning - Stolen Clocks (Again)

is it possible to get the serial number off this clock verified by BMW to identify the bike it came off? if it's nicked at least this chump would get a knock at the door.

I have a collection of torx headed screws and bolts in the garage that I've collected over the years from all manner of things ( screws like this are usually holding electrical items together)
I did find These but can't vouch for the measurement.
I'd expect a no.3 or no.4 screw not a 3mm screw, I don't know if the 3mm is to the edge of the threads or the centre shaft .

Another possibility here though you'd need to buy 200

Just found these:

Not expensive an also not a common tool people would have.

I'm also going to try this guy:

And then see about spray painting it all in black.

Parts are ordered, I'll post back here with results. This is for a K1300R - same problem I'm afraid!

Did you get the screws?

When I read this thread, I quickly came up with this solution.

It took meabot 40 mins in the garage. 1.5m sheet, cut to shape and bent using a piece of card as a template.
Srcured with three 6mm security screws bolted through the alloy plate and nyloc nuts underneath. Its fiddly but you can access beneath using a ring spanner and some tape to hold the nut whilst you tighten

A quick spray of matt black to finish

Wired mine on to the GS Hex, left enough slack to pop them off if needs be, i happened to have the stainless wire crimps from a job a few years ago, chef but effective :thumb

and this of course a very neat one as well :thumb

Thats the worry isnt it? We can secure the clocks using a tamperproof screw into the fixing lug but the scrotes simply snap them off! scumbags

It's usually the lower mount that is snapped off when they get stolen because it's difficult to get at that last circlip.
If you make the top one hard to access, they can't get the leverage on any of the others.

Hence my thinking around using a plate which prevents access and also holds the unit in place.

Yep I know this is an old thread, but was wondering, if BMW will at least lock the new TFT screen to the VIN number of the bike, as the screen is software run, so it is not hard to do, and maybe that can render them useless to thieves, reason I am saying this, is BMW say this TFT is an option on new bikes, so if I am correct, "maybe not" it can replace the older clocks, and also it sucks that you have to go to BMW to do software upgrades on the new screens, they could have just added a wifi chip.

TFT-Display and BMW Motorrad Connected app.

The optional accessory BMW Motorrad Connectivity provides motorcyclists with an innovative solution for daily navigation, using multimedia and riding-related information with the clearest layout and intuitive operations: connecting the motorcycle, smartphone and helmet via Bluetooth results in completely new possibilities. The multi-controller ensures that the functions are easy to operate at all times.

BMW give up the chance to rape people of their money?

3 ... 2 ... 1 ... your back in the room!

I think that you cannot install a "used" display on another bike so easily.

Km or miles are also registred somewhere in ECU or ZFE.
