Warranty Renewal - Should I??

I am still unclear if Warranty Direct or the 3rd party BMW insurance company covering BMW bikes are the same? Sgt Bilco gave his opinion but no one else as far as I can see posted concerning this question.

I called BMW warranty twice now and I'm not sure about them? Warranty Direct seemed "warmer" shall we say? Anyways I'm at a loss, don't know where to go from here?

Think you'll find that most people on here have gone for the BMW extended warranty. General TP type cover is a false economy imo. Have a look at the BMW extended warranty policy document - it's fairly comprehensive. The other advantage is you can get the breakdown cover - the BMW guys carry spare FPCs for example.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I purchased the BMW warranty in the end.

Was not happy to discover the tyre pressure sensors in the wheels are not covered. I only know that caused I asked being that one failed in the last 12 months. BMW says it's about £150 per wheel to fix. BMW says the internal batteries fail which render them useless.

Anyways I've paid and I'm now covered should my FD or ABS fail!

Right now it is the second best option after Wagner, but anything can happen with the public vote!

Bought mine from BMW/Mondial.

When I had bike worth £2k I didn't worry but with a decent bike and limited lumps of cash I chose the warranty. Twenty odd quid a month or a possible 1.5k on repairs? Easy choice.

I don't think it is an easy choice?

My bike has been very reliable with the exception of a couple of issues. My bike has only done 12000 miles, hardly worn out! Not even 'run in' yet if you believe the sale staff at BMW.

Whilst extended warranties offer peace of mind I think it's totally unacceptable for low mileage GS's to be failing with such big problems. I consider I've bought a hi premium motorbike, BMW tell me, because of this premium quality ownership I should expect premium costs when things go wrong. OK I accept that, but not low mileage. This to me, is poor build quality wrapped up in a prestigious badge!

So when money is tight each month and bills are going up and up and up, I don't consider another £27-£29 per month an easy sell especially as I paid a large deposit on my bike and it's still costing me hundreds each month till final payment.

I could not agree more! And if I still had 12 monthly payments remaining on my premium product, the last thing I would expect, is to be blackmailed into shelling out for a warranty - It just seems wrong to me!

BMW would only have to piss me off once - then I would vote with my feet!

I have another 16 months left plus final payment, already paid 24 months and a £3000 deposit. Not a cheap bike! So an extended warranty is ridiculous at this point - however, I like the bike and I do now have peace of mind for another year.

The Wagner thing did not work out, hope you did not put your £300 on that twat, much better spent on a BMW warranty IMHO.
