Was It You?

Well, here's a news flash. I've deliberately posted next to feck all in here for about 6 or 7 months. It seems some senstive souls were intimidated by me ....
And the first thread you start here after your time out is one rippinging into folk who dare to start a thread in the 'SS'.

A general observation is how I would describe it.

"Ripping in" is a different thing altogether in my book.

However, I can see that my contribution in this section is both unwelcome and perceived to be antagonistic so I'll bid this thread Auf Wiedersehen.

As you were, gents :beerjug:

Ooh is this a mini founce?

Was it you who was an IAM instructor in Inversnecky?

Not I.

Well, here's a news flash. I've deliberately posted next to feck all in here for about 6 or 7 months. It seems some senstive souls were intimidated by me so I took a back seat and left posting stuff, organising runs, events and guff like that to others.

Fair point, but if people do find you intimidating (quite likely) maybe rather than expecting them to come back at ya with all guns blazing you just wound it back a notch or two the more sensitive souls could cope :D

Agree that it has been a bit quiet here recently, and I admit that I post far more on the Laverda Owners forum, but after the Nick Plumb thread a while back (I was gobsmacked at the 'feck off back to England' thing that came across from a good few here to a guy who only wanted to ride in Scotland with some like minded blokes) I wasn't sure if this forum was for me. Now that's just me (wot a wimp), but the worry is that others will look at this section and think feck, too hot for me and go elsewhere, thus defeating the aim of livening up the place.

As for rallies, organised several up this way for the Laverda lads, but it took a while before I felt I could pull that gig off.

There, now I'm going round in bloody circles.

Some fair points there ThreeDawg and I for one appreciate everyones opinion and views. That post that you mention above did have the effect of winding a few up on here, probably me included but I did not post in it. It was a commercially motivated thing and nothing to do with riding around with some like minded guys IMHO. Ronno's original post in here is also pretty much on the nail, although maybe some newer people on here don't know how to search etc, nobody from up here doesn't want to be helpful, far from it if you look at the info given out over the years :beerjug:

Probably true. However, at the risk of flogging a dead horse, not everyone takes this sort of thing written down in perhaps the same way as they might face to face with a smile (maybe) in the pub and this leads to friction/fear/loathing.

Absolutely not. He'd finished at the show and didn't mention Touratech once during the time he was here (he stayed overnight at my place and we rode all the following day). We talked a lot about doing the Dakar and the guys in the Boorman video as well as his partner and kids. He bought me (and Mrs Three Dawg and his two mates) dinner and lunch for me and the lads the following day so I'm actually up on the deal as far as how much I've spent at TT:D.

He was gutted that there wasn't time to do Belach na Ba (he had only a day and a half or so) but we rode Inverness to Loch Carron via Loch Ness then over the top to Kishorn, Torridon, Kinlochewe and back to Inversneckie. He then went south where I think Skyenet picked them up and carried on showing them around. Serious milage!

BTW, I'm not an apologist for TT (I've only bought a couple of bits for the bike from them, but they are nicely done) as there are plenty of places to buy these baubles from, but Nick is a top bloke.

Well fair enough, I (we perhaps) stand corrected on this and when he's next up I'll certainly look him out. I met Sam M last year when he was up, good guy as well:thumb

He did indeed and was a really friendly and interesting guy. I think the only Touratech thing I have ever bought were a pair of handguards as most of my GS adaptions are homemade.

I have always been interested in in-car and on bike video stuff and he showed me some great footage from the cameras he was using. Again he found some of the stuff I had done on track and around the Dukes Pass interesting. Neither Touratech or UKGSers was ever mentioned during his visit. We talked more about biking and our kids.

Oh you and your side kick decided to delete your posts.
Its a shame, your both so entertaining
You should start your own website.

That would be a stupid thing to do if they're so entertaining. Their audience would be so much smaller on their own website that this huge commercial one we all love and invest in.

Don't worry about being banned, just set up another forum and spend your time slagging this place off.

You can always come running back when its lifted.

I really can't see that happening. In fact pointless as I set up a website/forum that does just that. And it satisfies the need to slag this place off admirably, and they're both members of it.

They were asked to come back after being banned.

Your anger and venom is misplaced and wide of the mark.

Be a man and tell us who you are, a community like this can't survive when regular posters, as you are, start adopting other persona's like you're doing.

Allow me to explain. I'll try and keep it simple for you: I only had to type the first post once. If I replied to the "original OP" as you suggested, I'd have had to type it about 40 times cos that's about how often the same type of post has appeared in here recently.

.....and how many times have you replied to this thread?

Odd, isn't it?

If someone posted a much repeated query in the Beakchat section and someone else commented about not reading the relevant section before posting, hardly anyone would raise an eyebrow. Happens all the time.

Dare to post anything like that in the Scotch Section and whole phalanx of dickheads suddenly decide to start posting in it just to be be offended on someone elses behalf.

im offended on someone else's behalf but who i have not a clue:pullface

Apologies for not getting the bunting out, firing up the pipeband and igniting the fireworks for your post here. :thumb2

340 posts in 6 years and I've the honour of one of your rare gems appearing in a thread started by me. I'm welling up and my heart is almost bursting out of my chest with pride :D

Whats wrong with people asking for advice from locals, I thought thats what these forums were for

I used to quite fancy touring Scotland on a bike untill I started looking at this forum and realised what rude and ignorant people live there. Now I think I'd rather make the short journey to Dover and explore France and the rest of Europe rather than slog up to a wet, cold, midge infested sh*thole full of rude people who's idea of good food is dipping a Mars Bar in the chip fryer.

Yer right........most o them emmigrated from Englandshire after they'd contaminated that dear country........Perfidious Ablion - aptly named:comfort

Well I suppose I must admit to stealing a couple of things from Scotland. My memories of past trips and visits being one, and a girl being another.

Repulsive, ill educated, tartan clad bunch of morons apparently, well that's what she thinks of Scottish men, and I suppose she is qualified being a Scott.:pullface

Right then must dash, I enjoyed the scenery that much, I thought I might just buy a bit of it. :flag

See you about
