One of my best days out. The late start gave me quiet roads in the evening. And the sunshine really made it.

Got a wee ride in today on my new steed. Couldn't find a sticker - RUNNING IN - PLEASE PASS. But 4,000 RPM was enough anyway.

Caught 4 ski slopes in one run. After the debacle at Perth due to the Scone game fair traffic, I diverted via Dundee, followed by the road works closure on the A93 a few miles north of Blairgowrie.

Fuckin' eedjit road worker asked me if I'd seen the Road Closed signs. Yes says I, but they didn't say exactly where and there was no signposted diversion. So along with the Belhaven beer lorry plus many more tourists I had to do a 180 and return to Blairgowrie. I took the cart track from Alyth to the A93 then onward to Tomintoul. My mood improved after a sausage roll (that's a roll on sausage) and coffee at the Glenshee ski cafe then the sun came out.

All was well for the rest of the day with the sun out.

Over the Lecht then Aviemore for Lucozade and Bounty plus some unleaded. Laggan dam. Past Nevis range into Fort Bill at 5pm rush hour. Then looped round Kinlochleven as I've never been there for years. Then Glen Coe with the sun on my back. Not much to beat that.

How good are these roads when they're quiet?
A93 north from Braemar.
Newtonmore to Spean Bridge.
Glencoe to Crieff.

My route was:
Home - Kincardine - Perth - Blairgowrie (the long way round) - Braemar - Tomintoul - Aviemore - Spean Bridge - Fort William - Kinlochleven - Glen Coe - Tyndrum - St Fillans - Crieff - Gleneagles - Glen Devon - Home.

384 miles. 60mpg. Will be ready for first service next week.

Bike looks great.:thumb

And some cracking roads.:beerjug:

Ace ride , not jealous at al !

Great run, did a similar route but popped in past Aberdeen (work) fit a few new bits on my GS when i bought it at the start of May. A joy to run over Glenshee and then like you say down to the Fort via Laggan we are blessed with such great tarmac when the bloody council dont put the chipping down, then its a nightmare.

Loving the RS so far. Gave it some of that All Year Biker stuff in it's first week.
And took it out of it's first service last week with a few extras added. Panniers, box, crash bars and Zumo mount make it more useful. And an Akra can will make it sound more like a bike. Especially as I pulled the baffle out last night. I'm sure it will sound pretty fruity with the up and down quickshifter.
Took it to a Castle Combe Bikesafe day just for fun. Boring M1 and M6 stretches were saved by the cruise control. Running 55 to 60 mpg on clock.
Waiting to try a high seat for more bum to peg space. I quickly decided that it handles better than my previous R1200R and GS models.
1500 miles in 2 weeks. Just need to get more miles on it.

Whats the All Year Biker stuff you mention?? I clart mine in ACF50.

It's exactly the same thing, but someone else does it for you. With a pre-wash. ACF applied with HP spray. Finished of with a polish to the bodywork. £60 all in
Seems to be a franchise operation and the nearest guy was over in Milton of Campsie. Goo gle is your friend.

What's yon thingie your holding in the mole grips?

Edit: just looked again. It's the baffle in the exhaust. Didn't know that was removable? Does it have any effect on performance / ECU settings?
