Watch out for dealers passing off '08 bikes as '09 bikes, and charging you '09 prices. Check your build dates carefully !

Remember the price rise was largely due to the fall in the £ and came into effect 1st Jan '09.

I got stung by an underhand BMW dealer.

- I ordered a loaded '09 spec bike from a BMW dealer and I specifed an '09 bike. When I buy new, I like it to be new, and not having been hanging around for months. One of the worst things for any vehicle is lack of use...
- Dealer agreed in writing to an '09 spec bike.
- Got bike, pleased with it, but later noticed it didn't have LED indicators (standard in '09 comfort pack)
- Dealer tried to fob me off saying it's definately an '09 bike...and must have been built to wrong spec during the '08 to '09 "crossover".
- I smelt a rat, so called BMW who confirmed was an '08 spec bike built in July '08 !
- Now what really p*ssed me off is that I got charged '09 prices for an '08 bike, and bike would have been in the UK well before the £ dropped...and so charged to BMW UK at '08 prices.
- BMW Customer services said dealer should not have charged me '09 prices!
- Dealer still trying to fob me off with utter cr*p.
- So sent an email to dealer: Under Sale of Goods Act 1979 as bike is not as specified, I am entitled to a full refund etc. But offered to be reasonable and settle for a refund of '08 - '09 price rise, as spec difference is just indicators. If spec difference was more than this (i.e. engine upgrade), then I would have definately rejected the bike.
- Dealer saw the light and realised it would be cheaper to to pay me to go away.
- Got cheque in post !
- My lawyer friend says they have got off very lightly and I should have been harder...

My last bike came from SPC, and last I heard that the guy that owned it went down for fraud...

Even though the dealers have BMW on the door, they are still conniving lying sneaky underhand b*stards. So, service cancelled and gone elsewhere...and am damned if they are getting another penny off me.

However, as this dealer has settled amicably, I'm not going to name them.

I thought the "new" engine was on bikes from Sept 08, the one with the new balance shaft and 5bhp more power output. No doubt BMW can confirm this for you (not your supplying dealer perhaps!)

They did get off lightly. You should have returned the bike for a full refund and held out for the '09 machine they were contracted to supply.

the 2009 spec bikes came out in september. the only difference are the small indicators.

I bought a 2008 bike the paperwork I signed said led indicators, I picked up the bike in March but when questioned they stated I had a good deal.
As you say the bike was priced at the point of signing and paperwork was signed as a new order.
Why make all the fuss about signing off the paperwork but not following up when the order is wrong. It was a stock bike but it should have the correct paperwork.

Going for my first service free by the way as my varios were scratched!!

By the way how much is the led indicators?

Service = £200ish New varios £550ish

They're taking the piss why aren't they replacing the damaged boxes?

(Who are these muppets by the way so we can all avoid them?)

A set of four 'plug & play' replacement BMW LED indicators at Bahnstormer for the older '04 onward models was £129 IIRC (as seen in their glass display cabinet).

For the newer models ('07 on I think) it was a bit cheaper.

I've gotta go pick up a part today from them, so I'll have a better look at the spec / pricing for you.

The "new" uprated engine came in for the '08 model year.

There is no difference in spec between '08 and '09 models.

The only spec difference is in the Comfort Pack, where the white indicators with regular bulbs were changed to LED indicators for '09. I don't care which ones I have...

If the difference between '08 and '09 had been substantial, i.e. engine upgrade, I would have rejected the bike for sure.

So, watch out ! :hide

Personally, I'd go for that deal too ........... a free (£200) service for some scratches on my panniers which will soon enough be used and scratched to feck anyway :thumb2

Wrong, that was Jan 2008 when the new GSA and GS arrived

The new LED indicators look utter crap....................like some Motrax tat

If I was buying a 2009 GS...... I would demand proper indicators that were fitted to pre Sept 2008 bikes and have them fit proper orange lenses

LED indicators .................Stylised shite

Apologies, went to Bahnstormer, got chatting to a Police dog handler and made a fuss of his dog, totally forgot to look for LED pricing.:blast

I'm a bit nervous saying this .... I like the new indicators so much I bought them. They are a lot brighter.
