Hi Guys! Turns out that water contaminating fuel due to blocked fillercap drainage hole was what was causing the fuel pump to screech in protest. I have been told by my local mechanic in manila that the tank and pump will need draining and cleaning and the fuel pump vibration damper replaced. Is it in fact necessary to replace the damper as none are available here in the Philippines and it will entail a one-month wait for the thing to arrive from Germany. Many thanks in advance for your views on this. Barry Neves

I would just unblock the breather and empty the tank out and carry on. :D
(put more petrol in first of course) ;)

I had water in my 1100 tank and just took the tank off and drained it. I did need take the sender/filter unit out to drain it properly and left it to dry out for a day. I replaced the filter at the same time. None of which was a big deal.

Methelated Spirits in the tank, this will mix with the water, then the resultant mix will mix with the fuel ( so I am led to believe by an experienced mechanic)
Got to be worth a try before spending vats of cash. :rob
