Hi all,

Out and about today on my 1200 gsa 2018, had the tft screen on page showing temp, oil pressure etc, i noticed the water temp changing regularly from 77-86, when i stopped at some traffic lights it crept up to 100 degrees, set off and down it came but still erratic, it was a cloudy day with temp about 17 degrees, bike runs fine but i thought it should stay about the same temp while i am bimbling along,
any thoughts,

Totally normal

The thermostat opens around 85 degrees from memory so the coolant circulates through the radiators, as the coolant cools the thermostat then closes until it gets back up to 85 and so forth, hence the temperature will fluctuate around there

if there’s not enough airflow to cool the motor, once it gets to 100 degrees ish the fan kicks in

Thoughts? Don't worry, why are you looking at it, if there is a problem the warning light will come on.

Normal behaviour, when moving at a reasonable speed the thermostat will open and close water valve as temperature cycles between 77-86 approx. When stationary or very low speed, there is no or little airflow through radiator, so temperature will inevitably rise , so fan kicks in at 99/100C to give some airflow through the radiator and bring the temp down to a safe level. - Simples :)

Thanks all,
generally dont ride with that screen on, as i said bike runs sweet,
thank you for your replies all is good,
ride safe, cheers,
