What would be the high/warning water temperature for a DRZ S?

I think the warning light comes on at about 120c. And goes off at 100c. So basically, around 100 is okay. But obviouisly lower , the better.

Mine came on often when riding in the Egyptian Summer. But went off with decent airflow. That was in temperatures of 40c at times. In traffic. The bike made it all the way to Capetown in 2010. And the guy I sold it too is trail riding it still today.

Thank you.
I have a vapour dashboard, and last time I re-set it (the backup battery in it dies once a year, normally in winter) I set the warning light to come up to 95c – I think it was like that previously and I never saw it.

Yesterday while stuck filtering through traffic trying to reach the Blackwall tunnel I noticed it coming up (97 indicated) and then again, on the trails, on a climb where I was going fairly slow at low rpm.

In both cases temperature did go down immediately as soon as I managed to get some airflow, so not massively worried, but since I removed the fan I wanted to double check where the limits are. :)

I don't know anything about the particular bike - but would have thought that a warning at 120C was a bit on the high side .... by about 5 to 7C ? . I would be "happy " with seeing 100 - 105C in warm operating conditions , knowing air flow was coming soon .... once it started getting over 110C ... I would want to know about it.

I never went over 100 degrees all of yesterday, so seems ok.
I'll re-set the warning lights around 110.

People generally add fans. Not remove them.

It's a bloody good engine if looked after. They take a beating. But too much heat will damage anything.

Keep those radiators topped up and make sure your thermostat is always clean.

I took the fan off because I fitted the plastic DRZ-E tank, and the original fan doesn’t fit.

And also, it never powered up in the last few years (it works, tested).

I’ll have a look at the thinner fan option to fit.

All of yesterday bike never went over 100 degrees to be fair. Most of the time sits around 70/80c.
