Is there anyone on this site who is in a position to know when the above mentioned is due to arrive at our dealerships, please. Sort of hoping by the time I get my money sorted they might well be in the shops. Assuming I can get a test ride, lol:hide

Just a thought...having had your fairly well publicised problems with a previous BM, is it wise to get straight in on a brand new model before the teething problems are ironed out?

I can see where this is going to lead:blast

I don't know either, but when you know, let me know!:D I feel dizzy now.:D

Put a deposit down on one last week, I am hoping for delivery this time next year on the third anniversary of my twin cam. I just hope I can afford it when it comes out.

One big bonus of all the GS models is that they are air air/oil cooled. I wont be in the market for a water cooled variant. If I was Triumph and Honda would be strong contenders.

I have to say one of the endearing features of the GS12 is it's "perceived" simplicity. I feel I can fix it myself, whatever the problem. I know this probably is not the case. But that is how it "feels".

Once you start getting into switchable maps, traction control systems (yeah I know many GS's now have these) and other goodies as the MTS & Explorer have. It means I won't be able to play anymore. My time I spend in the garage tinkering is to me part of the Motorcycling experience I have been missing in recent years. Getting an 05 GS means I can tinker again. (I did have a new 09GSA, but didn't touch that).

I am quite sure that the 1250 will be a fabulous bike, as is the MTS & Explorer. Is it 8K better than my bike? Not to me. I may be on my own here, but the capability and "newness" of the bike in some way takes away some of my enjoyment. In fact I could quite happily buy a 30 year old bike and have a great experience.

I guess my point is, the amount of "fun" you get out of Motorcycling isn't limited by having the latest model. In fact I think the opposite. When I think back to my 350LC days I seem to remember I had a lot of fun then!
So when you guys that get the 1250 are riding along thinking "Woooohooo my bike is the bollox", just remember that there are plenty of others with a big grin too, but for a different reason. The beauty of the freedom Bikes give you. :D

I'm just in the process of buying a new GS12, having owned two before and a K1300Gt inbetween. Mannnn, that thing was heavey and that's my biggest concern for the proposed water cooled 1250. I certainly don't want a bike any heavier than the present model.

Yes, I know the weight isn't a problem when you're on the move but its when you have to move it about on the drive or forcourt etc etc that you end up doing yourself a possible mischieve. Owch!

I think the WC standard version will be presented in Milan in November and will arrive in dealers in early 2013, whereas the GSA will come out later possibly 2014? I look forward to the 2013 GSA last year's edition :blagblah :blagblah :blagblah, it's already on most collectors' list ;)

............just heard that there will only be a GS with serious off roaders kitting their bike out from the options list..............? Makes financial sense for the manufacturer really.................! the RT may also go as there has been competition within the range............!Incidentally speaking to a non bullshit area sales manager mate over the weekend and he was saying that one of the effects of recent american multi partnership strategies will mean that Vauxhall, Opel badges etc will go in the near future to be replaced with the all conquering GM european arm of Chevrolet........ Makes sense really as I am about to buy the wife a Chrysler Ypsilon which she won't shut up about.................! Methinks style over substance. However........ sold in Italy as a Lancia:augie........a name of which we still have crumbling bodywork anxiety dreams:D:D

Best Wishes

If you wanted to do "serious off road" would you buy a GS 12/1250?

I asked a BMW salesman yesterday and they say they've had no official word as yet so it's all a guessing game. Any dates you may have heard are all guesswork so take them with a pinch of salt.

yes , well indeed what a good point. I will be buying it from a dealer I trust implicitly, not those nasty chaps at Park Lane. they havent even got the balls to reply to the open invite i posted to them to call me and we would have a little chat about their appaling behaviour towards me and my bike. NO SIRREEE not even a phone call, cowardly or what..

Anyway life's too short to get heavy on wasters like them. Park Lane I mean...Not ALL of them, merely those tho thought it would be a good idea to refuse my pleas for help etc etc etc.

Anyway, back to the bike. Am i right in that anything designed for the older bikes wont fit the newer ones????.

HMMM we shall see.......
