Just placed my order today for a gs after deliberating whether i wanted an adventure.

R1200gs
Racing red
Heated grips
Sat nav prep
led indicators.

Thats it.

Now the wait begins, due end of march.

Congrats SirRich, I agonised for days before and several weeks after ordering whether I had made the right decision to go basic. I had several test rides and pressed all the buttons on the top of the range model and could not detect any significant changes in riding enjoyment.
Roll on 1 May when I collect mine, I'm sure all doubts will vanish.

Why the long wait? I wanted mine for March 6th (insurance renewal date) and Jefferies checked the delivery date as they processed the order last Monday and the computer said yes :D

Base model in white + ESA, heated grips and low seat.

I'm getting over excited, 1st March, not May. My dealer confirmed it is now in production and bike will be ready for shipping on their Feb delivery, so it will be sitting in the dealers for a few weeks. The reg numbers will be available mid Feb. Also a Jefferies bike so I'll be there at the door 8.30 1 March, see you then Sven.

Cheers gents.

I guess i could of had the bike sooner if id asked, but i wanted the bike towards the end of the month.

Deliberated specs, rode the one with all the extras for half a day and once id settled in i didn't feel the need to press any buttons or change modes. Tried one with less spec for half a day as well.

a cracking bike however you spec it up, none of them are exactly 'basic'.

Not unless you're stopping there for five days :P

Last minute order change :banghead: Thunder grey and comfort pack added.

Has anyone else got a non-ESA watercooled gs? ......what do you think of the standard suspension setup ?

Two up + luggage is to soft , needs a proper set up , , total weight was around 180/190. One plus luggage is OK. Will get a Nitron set up when they are available next week.

Red is the colour !

Top choice,,,, looks lovely on the road !

Am 103kg, i will probably take it to a specialist for set up if i can find one local, if not i'll have a go.

Nice but I've gone for thunder grey in the end.....tough choice, red is striking , dark grey is classy and understated.

That's exactly the combo I would go for. How about some aftermarket shocks ? - you'll get half the outlay back when you get rid of the bike and it will transform the ride

Hi SiRich,

Congrats re the new bike, personally the ESA is a must for me as I ride with a pillion as much as I do solo and changing the load setup at the touch of a button is just so useful, so definitely ESA for me, but you will love your bike to bits of that I am sure.

Well done mate!

Yep fair shout Ape, i might put aftermarket shocks on, it wont be this year though.

Thanks Kev! i dont ride two up much, tends to be just the one trip a year when me and the missus go away on the bike, ESA was something i had considered, i admit having that sort of control at the press of a button must be a revelation if you ride two up a lot. Cheers pal.

Simon, I'm excited for you my mate, you're gonna love it, this bike is just the biggest grin to ride, hope you have got the crud catcher polished up and ready to fit. I forgot to mention that the P/Plastics fender was fitted with a new special double sided tape, it held up well on my bike with no problems, and saves drilling holes in your fender.
I'm sure that if you gave them a ring they would pop the self-adhesive tape in the post for you FOC, apparently I was the first guinea pig to try it. Nice guys, I went to their factory to see them, they are based in Gainsborough N.Lincs.

Well here it is. Ended up with a TE in the end, reports on the standard suspension didnt inspire me (unable to try one) and I've got a big two up trip planned for may. Dealer has been great, spotted big d's and his mates old bikes in the showroom parked side by side ( his n hers reg nos:D. no price stickers on them). Not sure it needs a mudsling compared to my old gsa seems to have an attempt at a mudguard and smaller wheel arch.

After test riding one exactly like yours, I am seriously wanting one, so nice to ride. Did you manage to negotiate a deal on the price ?

I understand if you don't want to divulge.
