After recently purchasing some Klim Marrakesh trousers (excellent by the way) I can't get my old WP overtrousers on unless removing my boots and remember struggling in rain showers to do this by the side of the road. Looking for an inexpensive soluution, I found one that may be of interest to you bargain hunters amongst the less well healed Bimmer fans. I took the scenic A40 to Ross on Wye yesterday and visited the surplus store on Broad Street (10 Broad Street, opposite Peacocks...plenty of on street parking for bikes). After chatting with the very helpful and knowledgeable owner there he suggested I try the Royal Navy Goretex overtrousers sized to be worn over normal uniform, but he suggested going one size up to account for getting over M/Cycle boots. he claims the Navy ones are better made than the others, more substantial (although they pack up small) and have wider legging zips at the ankles. Spot on. They fitted like a charm and were easy to get over the boots. As well as zips for the lower legs and draw strings at the waist, they also have velcro closures at the ankles to get them to fit nice and snug, and being a dark Navy blue, are more muted than the usual camo trousers. He had some brand new ones in stock, yours for the princely sum of £35. Bargain. Had these appeared in your local motorrad shop, you'd expect a three figure price tag. Duely paid for and bundled into the top box.

I swear by these...

Ticks all your requirement...Easy to put on. Draw string waist cord. Large calf length side zips so they go on
easily on when wearing boots. Small pack down size. And most importantly they are totally waterproof.

Have a pair of Revvit over trousers, cant for the life find the model number / type but will try later but big advantage is how to get them on when stuck in the rain under a bridge or wherever. The advantage on mine is they zip up from bottom of each leg to the waist band meaning they are very easy to put on without struggling to get your legs and boots into them. This is absolutely paramount. Easy to get on and take off

Top drawer stuff:

Yeah yeah pricey etc, but they are bloody brilliant.

Point is, I only paid £35 for some top drawer goretex OTs and they're a doddle to get on over boots, job done, and no overpriced motorbike gear can beat that spec vfm.

that's the most important part - getting them on and off easily

whatever happened to bin liners.... under your jeans..?

Unless you are deficient in the leg department, to the tune of one, you’ll need two bin bags.
i thought the "s" was a clue to the number most folk includng me... would need....!

You gents seem to be missing the point of the opening post.

The fellow isn’t looking for suggestions for waterproof over-trousers. He’s telling the world of the tip-top cheap bargain he’s found in a surplus outlet in Ross on Wye. It has good parking and you can look in slack jawed wonder at members of the Pavonini family, squawking and screeching, across the road.

These he bought without reference to UKGSer. He‘d already done, the ‘What trousers’ enquiry to death, researching buying his Klim things.

Here, for everyone’s benefit is a link:

Tip-top waterproof overtrouser

We sell genuine army surplus. We have a wide range of tactical gear, camping equipment, tents, clothing, boots, rucksacks, waterproofs and sleeping bags.

Note the word ‘tactical’, always a winner on these pages. Be sure to cut the labels out, if going black op’s to Tesco.

PS Their online shop is down, so phone or hoon to their door on your awesome. Be sure to check the opening times, the weather and with SWMBO before departure and definitely before buying “….any more of that motorcycling shite”.

Cheaper here and without the flog to Ross on Wye, but add postage

They are also cheaper off eBay…… but those maybe have the residue patina of their previous owner….. or might be some dodgy Chinese copy.

They are a little cheaper but not the same. The Navy ones have wider zipped lowers (something to do with the need to cover the sheer girth of their bell bottoms :ROFLMAO:....ok I made that bit up) so easier to get over boots and are ("allegedly") better made, the shop owner assuring me that "well, it's the navy isn't it....need to keep dry on a boat and these keep 'em dry"

The linked ones are only cheaper as they're graded whereas I bought mine new, not that you could probably tell the difference from many Grade 1 clothing offerings though.

Got caught out in a bit of deluge the other day, having to stop and fit the surplus overtrousers on. Kept me bone dry, job done. Top tip, go a size up as they pull up further and it makes no difference to fit other than having wider akle sections to get your boots through. Top kit, rock bottom price.

I’ll be having a look later because normally I’d use overtrousers designed for mountaineering that have almost full length zips so you can get them on over crampons but they’re not cheap and mine have a few rips in them that have had patches glued over them because I’m a cheapskate.

Thanks for the tip :thumb2

I can vouch for the Royal Navy ones definitely better quality than normal goretex over trousers but also available in different waist and leg lengths
