Come on Team Flatlanders, we need to be making plans. And soon.

I'm thinking that a bike run up on a friday up to Perth, overnight there, then a trip to the table for lunch. Spin around the area then another night in Perth and home sunday. Or we could trip out again on the sunday and return monday.

Anybody else up for it ? Yup its a long way but it has to be done. :thumb

We can do advance scouting - heading Jockland-wise 14-25 May.

Perth's a long old way for a single day but sounds good.

Whats the feedback been from Team Flatlanders , have you all got a date agreed yet :type

edit : Just a thought ,what route where you thinking , using AA and Autoroute im getting anywhere between 450 and 480 miles and under 7hours to nearly 8hours.

I'd suggest the nearest weekend to the anniversary of Mike's accident. From my place I make it 400 miles one way and Mapsource suggests it will take about 6:40.

With petrol/comfort/fag breaks call that 7:30 so for a 12:30 lunchtime that's an 05:00 departure. Cup of tea, bowl of soup and some time to talk with friends and remember our mate then head back about 14:30 sees me home around 22:00.

A good day out...this has the makings of an annual trip :augie

Edit: Just checked the calendar and the 20th June is a Saturday this year.

Hmmmm, most of my weekends in May are spoken for and got holiday booked for June. I dunno :blast

Don't want to be running strailght up and back and could do with being on my big bike for a trip to new roads.

I am starting to think that maybe I should go next weekend. Got nothing booked and can rearrange things at work to take Friday off. Got the advantage of being a bank holiday on Monday so if the weather is good up there a Sunday runaround would be good. :nenau

I was thinking about this too. This weekend is no good for me as we are camping in Thetford Forest. Around June 20th would be poignant. Are you away all June, Graham?

If you don't go this weekend, maybe see you for a coffee/beer?

Ok, phone calls and pm's have been fairly flying around. My trip for this weekend is now cancelled. Sorry Mark.
So in line with most comments I now have a new cunning plan.

Depart Friday the 19th of June. Up to Perth, overnight there, then a trip to the table for lunch on Saturday. Spin around the area then another night in Perth and home Sunday. Or we could trip out again on the Sunday and return Monday.

Might be able to arrange accomodation a bit nearer but need to check and would need numbers first.

This has the added advantage that Caroline could then be with us on the Saturday.

Been in touch with Chalky and he's up for it so thats two. Twotter should be making a flying visit so thats Three.

Any more ?

Any more ?

I'm certainly considering it, but not sure about arrangements yet - I'm thinking about slinging the tent on and taking a longer time over the trip.

Aww I want to be there too! But I will be in Sydney on Dads anniv..... Tell you what, I will climb the Harbour bridge and have a bowl of soup for lunch too on that day. Sounds like a plan! I hope you have a wicked trip... be safe!
