I'm using Dreamweaver 4 at the mo. I want to revamp my website with drop down menus.

I know upgrading to the current version will give the ability, but mucho dinero's. Have been looking at Vista Buttons http://vista-buttons.com/ which seems like it will do exactly what I want in a nice WYSIWIG sort of way for $50.

I am not up to manual coding of this kind of malarky. Any other recommedations. PB

Just use layers with actions should work fine...

Guys,

Many thanks for the suggestions and ideas.

I had looked at a number of pages whicch had the kind of menus I wanted, but couldn't work out which were the important bits in the script, when looking at the whole page. I have never got beyond the most basic of coding practices, so directly coding CSS is a new game for me.

Richie,
I once had a go at trying this sort of thing, but just got bogged down in the tediousness of the coding and lost the plot. I was looking for something I could blag & tweak.

WorthyDolt,
the CSS page seems to give me just what I want. I'm printing off the html code so I can see where to make the changes in the menu wording/structure, before I start rewriting it, then all I have to do is work out how to insert it into my DW template file. Should I just put in the top of my "body" section, or do I need to plop it into a frame/box or something?

Any other suggestions gratefully received. :beerjug: PB

Richie,

That site is fecking brilliant. :thumb2

Presumably, when I upload my new templates, I just have to copy the css, js & image subdirectories into my websites root directory on the server? PB

PB it's a long time since I used that site, I rarely work on computer stuff these days but when I do I use Flash.

It is however a great resource and well explained, so you should be fine.

Post up a link to your stuff when finished, today I am doing a gallery for my wife's oil paintings...

Will post link later

Richie,

Yor a lucky man. Nadette is a very beautiful & talented woman. I love the oil paintings and the pencil drawings best. PG tambien.

The website sets them off well.

rtoilhead,

I'll have a carefull look at the dmxzone when my head had cleared a bit. It seems like a great resource site.

I think I have cracked the menu and it's now implemented. There are a lot of typo's and extra text being required on the new pages I have created, but I'll edit those and add text over the winter.

I ripped and altered the "Simple jQuery dropdowns" page. After a bit of head scratching, it all started to fall into place. Now I just need to regain the little hand when you mouse over the external links. They open in a new window OK, I have just lost the little hand.

Please tell me if you find any broken links. Cheers PB
