My front brake reservoir is weeping fluid, it is not overfilled and the screws are tight - anyone know the cause and/or have a solution?

I know some have been replaced under warranty. Mine wept a bit when parked in sunshine, even after nipping up the screws. Since the 6000 mile service fluid change it has been ok. Martin at Robsons suggested it was not fluid leaking, but moisture from the upper part of the reservoir.

I was told that it was just 'moisture' too but the 'moisture' doesn't evaporate so I cannot think that it can be anything other than brake fluid - I haven't tried tasting it yet though :)

I reported the same thing at the 6,000 service and was quite surprised when they replaced the complete master cylinder , problem sorted !

Likewise - new seal fitted at 6k service, fine since.

My clutch reservoir was the same... but only because it was filled to the brim!

Likewise, mine had new seals at the 6k service and has been fine since.

Leaking then..

Mine leaks too and so does my pals. Its defo brake fluid,if it was water vapour it would dry...
Tried tightening screws but still passes fluid. Looks like warranty for new cylinder or seal.
Reckon BM have had tons of these hence the revised seal.

I had to clean mine up yesterday (hexhead) I noticed it after a ride out, there was a small puddle in the top of the rubber seal part I took it off wiped it all out not sure why they do it but had it on other bikes in the past too ???

You need to carefully take it off & clean it with tissue or lint free rags to dry it,the fluid won't go away tightening screws.

Think ill give that a go on the w.c. before i take it to the stealers.

Yes that's the best way clean it up then dealer if it persists, mine looked like an insect splat but was around inside the handguard confirmed when I removed cap to investigate.
Brake fluid is hydroscopic so if a small amount expanded into area due to heat ? it could absorb water maybe why it builds up.

I've had it happen on other bike brands. Removing a little fluid & cleaning the rubber bellows usually sorts it.

New cover and seal fitted, hopefully cured now.

HYGROSCOPIC youngman. The ability to absorb or hold water. If brake fluid can leak out then water can get in....known as capillary attraction.

Likewise just had the same replaced under warranty.

Got to go back to have the water pump replaced, dealer noticed it weeping.

Has anyone had the circllip fall off the front foot rests ? Had both mine replaced.

Still love the bike :thumb
