Weight of the RT

I see the weight of RT model quoted in different sources. I'm assuming the weight includes the panniers. Is this assumption correct.

Just wondering if any body knows the weight of 2 panniers. Thanks for looking, Steve

Yes been there, I ended up with the tank bag for my kit

If panniers come as standard with the bike then the quoted weight on the spec sheet must include them.

There was a point in time when the weight of the RTs and K16s suddenly increased because of this rule change.

There was an outcry when the water-cooled RTs were introduced as the spec. weight increased from 259kg to 274kg. This, of course, coincided with the rule change.

So the weight of the panniers must be considered when comparing the weight of the RT and the other boxers.

The RT panniers are larger than the accessory panniers for the R/RS mentiooned above.

I weighed mine 7kgs each pannier empty These are the RT Panniers. No frame.
Bike with full tank, empty panniers, Givi top box, all the extras - radio, electric suspension, quickshifter, fender extender..
300kgs!
But then It was on a lorry weighbridge that will measure up to 40 tons...

I weighed mine as well. About 5kg which agrees with 8.5 lbs

OK... I misspoke. I humbly apologise for any unintended hurt that I caused. I will immediately launch an urgent inquiry as to how this could have happened. It wasn't my fault anyway. I was suffering from overwroughtness and blah blah..
Anyway it's nearly 7kg, allowing for parallax error. I was rounding it up...

It's still a heavy bugger but a delight to ride when it's moving!

Sensitive sole are we. Still think 5kg is correct. But got beer to drink so not overly bothered.

I agonised about the weight of an RT, but a bargain presented itself and it now sits beside my GS. It seems no harder than the gs to move it in and out of the garage, and strangely a bit easier to lift up onto the Center stand. Only had one ride, so early days but she clips along very smoothly, I think we will be ok.

The German bike magazine Motorrad weighed their fully-loaded test machine at 290kg. So 300kg is within the margin of error on a lorry weighbridge.
