ive been thinking about doing this check on my GSA

http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159180 thanks for the great info neil:thumb2

but unfortunately the bike decided to beat me to it :blast, as stated in neils thread above the bearing cage broke up and pushed the output seal out that started a leak:blast but this was the only thing that alerted me to the problem:eek

as neil stated in his thread there was no noise and the wheel was running freely

my bikes on 19k and when i did the 18k service the oil gave no indication of the problems to come.

so take steptoes advice peeps and do this relatively cheap check:bow:bow:bow

bits are now ordered from motorworks and if the arrive friday im in the garage for the evening:D

I wonder if I ought to buy a bearing and seal to carry as a lucky talisman ?

Stewart

 so... isn't that the same as a Lucky Talisman?

No......

Sensible spares are carried by prudent people who know that something may fail and have no bearance on their luck or fate.

Lucky talismen are carried by quasi religious twats who fool themselves that their imaginary friend is going to save them, or those who haven't quite grown up enough to leave their security blanky behind :blast

There's a fairly obvious distinction, and any reference to do with guarantees on future failures were purely ironic.

Sorry, have I lost my S.O.H again? :blast

Thanks for the reminder Chad - hope the bearing change goes well :thumb2 . My next purchase from Motorworks will include a big bearing seal.

In fact I might get the FD bearing too - my set of 'on-bike sensible spares for big trips' only includes a clutch release arm and a paralever bearing at the moment :augie

Right, so the list is:
Big bearing and seal
Clutch arm
Hall sensor
Clutch cable
and....................

CHAD. That's all I need for my bike :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2, and I don't even need to strap on the back as he has his own transport:thumb2

He's just done a full service, fitted new handgrips and changed all the throttle cable system. My bike is like new and all for the cost of.........................................
coffee and bacon sandwiches :beerjug::beerjug:

Chad you're such an angel. The old girl is running like a new bike :clap:clap:clap
