gone off to Vines to be sold on commission. I felt rather sad riding her in for the last time, she was my 7th GS and my 5th Adventure. I can't imagine any bike that could better it, I'm not prepared to pay 17.5k for a 1200LC so I'm sticking with my R100r for now, when that starts eating money uncontrollably again I expect I'll go back to a Hexhead GSA.

Kind regards everyone.

Using the R100R too much likely to lead to more cost sooner rather than later? Perfect excuse to get that Hexhead some time soon ;)

You've got to like any bike to buy 7 of them, never fancied trying anything else?

I can't fathom why you're selling it, unless you either the money or space

Just keep it, especially if it's bought and paid for and not on a PCP

Hi Bendy,

I'm sure you're not wrong, the 100 has eaten a lot of money to date, I'm hopeful the next 50k miles will be a bit better.

My reason is mainly space not financial but I have a silly fleet of vehicles and I had to choose between the two bikes. The GSA could be replaced tomorrow but I looked for many years before I found the R100r (and many years fixing it up).

I recently test rode a standard (non Adventure) GS LC and I reluctantly admit that if I bought again it would be the LC model. My "Heritage" fleet (a mint C1 125, a mint c1 200, a new Vespa PX 150 and the '92 R100r) would have to be disbanded before I brought home any new metal. I took the 1200 to France three times in 2014 but my riding these days fails to justify such a truly fabulous bike. If you saw my fleet I think you'd understand.

Regards

Phil

Hi Johnny

Sadly it's space but I'm certain I'm going to miss it a lot.

Hi GM

I test loads of bikes, none came close to the 1200. However I am incredibly brand loyal to BMW (bikes not cars) and Vines so I ride the most suitable bike in their range. Right now I want to persist with my old airhead (and two C1s) but I think I shall come to regret that, the 100 has cost a small fortune to date, any more of that nonsense and I'll mothball it, I'll never sell it as its 24 years old and just gets more interesting.

Regards

Phil
