any one doing the welsh 2 day this year? be our first time for team unfit lets hope it stay dry. is there any rules on tyre choice

Tyres must be as the ACU Handbook, they must be Enduro tyres and must be E marked and road legal. Motocross tyres are a definate no no.

Are they strict on that these days?

When I started enduro (long time ago) I prepared the bike as per the regs but when I got to races I was the only one on the correct tyres. For example, I think MOD land required trials tyres but everyone else had motocross tyres. I just put whatever I wanted after that and it was never mentioned at scrutineers.

Had I won events it may have been picked up!

They didn't check mine last year, but you'd be silly to go to all that effort and get turned away for wrong tyres. Equally, it's the done thing not to use a tyre that's overly aggressive in a fun event like the Cambrian. Cant recommend the Cambrian enough - a great, well-run event.

2day

that a great help if I was riding the cambrian. might be a great event but more interested in the welsh at the moment . thanks for the info:blast:blast

welsh 2Day

I think when i use to watch the Rallying on Grandstand from St Morritz, I am pretty sure the Regs stipulated studded tyres.

Hope that helps if you need any more advice, happy to help :D

Tyre rules will be in the regs for the event, silly not to stick to them (I remember having a row with Snoopy over that! :D)
I last did it in 2005, superb event, the only single lap two day "proper" enduro in the UK.
Day 1 was dry, Tamsin Jones was on my minute (:drool), and I was riding to clear some demons. Stayed on time all day, and even managed some decent test times! :thumb
Overnight it persisted it down, turning the reversed lap into an ice rink! I lost 23 minutes, and the will to live, on the check through Tom's Farm. :eek Thankfully Colin Walford was manning my next fuel stop, and his words of wisdom, and the fact that there was a couple of road miles to recover in, saved me from retirement. Lost 1 more minute over the remaining checks, and even recovered enough to attack the test!
The finishers mug still makes me smile! :thumb
Ride smart, it's a two day event, keep as fast a pace as you can maintain for that long. Get your refuelling sorted before the event. Enjoy!
