Ride with the balls of your feet (only) on the pegs, with knees gripping the tank for better control. If this scenario is unobtainable, you need to make adjustments/modifications to hardware....

Initially I am going to modify my hardwear,[ please tell me that won't hurt too much ] then I will ride faster round fewer / less corners, with a couple of tin can lids wrapped round me bawls for protection.
I am sure if I have grasped the wrong end of the stick someone will correct me.
N.B. I will also try and move my plates back a bit.
