Happy New Year Gents

I have the last 3 weeks of September 11 off and was thinking of getting in early and booking up for a BanB tour of the Western Isles on the trusty 1150.

Apart from the rain and midges and the fact the weather turns at a whim What is the weather like up there generally in September ?

Ive read GC,s excellent report on here and researched Calmacs hopscotch ticket deal

Regards Frank

We used Island rover 11 last year going
Mallaig -Armadale,
Uigg - Loch Maddy,
Bernareay - Leverburgh,
Stornoway - Ullapool.

It is worth a pop over to Barra short 30 minute ferry from Eriskay.

September isn’t too bad, usually. Bit windy but you could probably say that most months in the Western Isles! :D
When its good its very very good, when its bad, find a decent bar and enjoy a wee dram or two.

That’s the thing about B&B and the bike, we booked a great B&B next to the Dark Island so that we could enjoy an evening bar meal and a couple of drinks but the D I was pish poor. Overpriced, very average food and drink,, dirty and the service was not up to an acceptable standard.
The choice there is take it or leave it, there is nowhere else.
So it was a quiet night back in the B&B.
Ardhasaig was on the other hand exceptional, not cheep( I’ve forgotten how much it was now) but the food, service and location was some of the best ive ever experienced.
Even if you don’t stay there, call into the petrol station of the same name, go upstairs, its amazing :thumb2
15lts of unleaded and half a dozed scallops please :bow
Go whenever you can, take you watch off, time doesn’t have the same meaning out there, fingers crossed the weather is good.

Happy new year to you too :beerjug:

Going May this year, 17 ferries over eight days on the Rover ticket, great value!

Just booked one night in Leverburgh in early May as we're heading back from Ullapool via Lewis & Harris :D

Would have liked longer, but we're having one night in Dunoon, two in Tobermory for the Mishnish Music Festival and then two in Ullapool and still need to book somewhere around Fort William to break the journey home :nenau The cost soon adds up...

I'm going to the Uists, Harris and Lewis for a week in late April, the weather will be the weather, still going, can't wait....:bounce1
