Feckin' brilliant!
You would want a few prayers especially before the decent, I cannot imagine how you would do it!
It's not a photoshop send-up is it?
Beir Bua!

Its easy peasy if you take the same route the priests use in there 4x4's and not the pilgrim route:augie:augie

you are right . we tried the pilgrims route 3 weeks ago, and got half way up the last steep part to the right hand corner. we dont know if it was the pints of bulmers:beer: the night before or the heavy wind and rain storm washing stones down at us, or it just cant be done on a bike, if anyone has done the pilgrams route i want to shake there hand.
no matter what side you go up the last part is steep and stoney on all sides and the quad tracks stops at the bottom of the loose steep stuff. we had to zig zag up this part, but the rest is easier than the pilgrams route

A good weekend to be biking in the west, but I'm working tomorrow and the GS is for MOT at 4pm.

Have to be honest............... never did do it on a bike but did take the pilgrims route,(on foot, hands and knees) a friend told me later that there was a less gruelling route after we descended, the best part, we used our kayaks for the the trip down, pics to follow:augie

kayaking down the Reek

Jaysus, I know it rains a lot in Mayo, God Help Us, but kayaking down the Reek, rapid! Surely a first!

great weekend

Had a brilliant weekends biking. From Belleek to Sligo then down to Ballina and onto Bangor erris and onto Achill and down to Keem bay for a rest. Fantastic road from bangor to achill. Friday night in westport was quite quiet, recession???? Great run on sat to Louisburg then onto Lennane and then down a beautiful single track road to the mouth of killary harbour were we watched about 50 divers doing their tests, can't remember the exact name of the point but had stunning views and an old deserted youth hostel. Apparently 43 metres of clear water to dive in!!
Onto roundstone and to Maum cross and Maum (beautiful approach road) and then Cong for a pint in the quiet man pub and sat out in the sun. Walked over to Ashford castle but not allowed to far in as it was booked for a wedding, some guy Kennedy who now lives in Jersey's son. He had two Rolls Royce Phantoms for wedding cars both driven from Jersey (apparently), possible the quietest car i've never heard. Then back to Westport for a loc a pints of the black stuff and a very different very busy town.
Only saw about two other bikes all weekend and they were two harleys!!!!
The countryside was absolutely beautiful and the roads uncrowded and in great condition. Onle problem arrived home to find my youngest in hospital and later tested positive for swine flu, but well on the mend. Great country!!! Wish i could go back tomorrow, except like us all work beckons!!!:beerjug:
