I'm not a mechanic, but I have suspected for a long while that most servicing done by my main dealer is pretty much cosmetic, and relates to things they can charge for. As the bag of nails never seemed to get quieter after a service, I decided to do one myself and see if I couldn't quiet down my little rattle box of a GS.

So, I changed the plugs, oil, filter, and set the valves and end float.... the result definately tells me that no mechanic had done tis before in previous services. The bike is much quieter, ticks over a treat and much less lumpy at low revs.

Try it yourself, or sit at watch them at your next service....

You also get that nice warm feeling of self satisfaction and the feeling of confidence that the job was well done! ;)

I did have that warm feeling..in fact I sweated about 3 litres of water judging by the state of my shorts and tshirt.... 33 C in the shade is probably not condusive to spannering.... but it all adds to the fun:D
