What a load of tosh ...

Yup I'm pretty sure the arguement is broken. The circular logic you apply to your arguements amazes me. I'm still waiting for viable data that says it isn't a GS besides your opinion. Usually opinions are based on facts and are not just arbitrary. But in your case I'm wrong, yours is completely arbitrary.

So because I've never owned a GS before I guess my opinion on my own bike being a GS doesn't count. Good theory. Well if we go with your theory then how can you be sure yours is a GS since you didn't own one before?

It's called circular logic and it is a fruitless technique much like this debate. Have you gone for that ride yet?

I m glad you are now admmiting there are problems , because it sure seemed to me that you were calling it rubbish a few posts ago and the people that posted a bunch of cranks.

Yeah with statements like this, in my second post, I could see how you could misconstrue my stating that there have been problems

You say to read all the reports from the blokes that own them. OK I own one as do many here. Yes there have been problems with them but nothing unusual for a new model.

Circular logic and mis-quoting people. No wonder you never got round to buying a 12GS. Probably confusing the good reviews of the 12GS with the bad reviews of the 1150. :shoot:

Take it easy Peter. Hopefully one day you may open your rose- tinted 1150 eyes and realize that there is new GS in town and it kicks ass or better yet wait for my 23,000 km report. It may change your mind, then again, probably not

buying decisions...

are 90% emotion, 10% logic -

given that emotion will drive the buying decision its funny that we then try to defend the decision with logic, and we do! - mpg better, old bike getting ona bit, lighter weight etc. Given the purchase was probably an emotional one its not surprising we get upset when someone challenges our decision, based on mere logic. Or, god forbid, a new bike is released when we are still emotionaly attached to the old one.
Anyway i admit i bought on emotion and i'm glad i did - its a great bike and it makes me happy - puts a grin on my face and keeps me sane - for all its faults. but for all you logical thinkers here are a few facts to bare in mind before making your decision.

its noisy!
a 1200gs is hard to clean, particularly in those fidly engine bits
you get wet on a 1200gs when it rains
its quite high off the ground
i'm probably safer off road on foot, with a decent pair of walking boots than on a 1200gs
Oh and biking can be dangerous, so probably better to get a car(volvo is a logical choice ), or stay at home, safer still.

so lets not pretend that facts or logic is going to have too much influence in the gs v gs debate. You probably already know what side of the fence you sit on - whichever gs your emotion drives you to buy you wont be dissapointed and it will always be the best decision for you so enjoy.

Oh and just to back up my decision with a fact - this weeks MCN - 1200 gs 4stars, 1150 only 3 - YES
:D :D

Ya know what, the 1200gs guy's arguements were going so well, iI was almost convinced myself......

Until Philip blew it all to hell by pointing out that MCN think the 12's better than the 1150.

'Nuff said ;)

Do you know? I actually quite like my GS. On the grand scale of things, I don't suppose there's a whole lot else that really matters! :D
