what boots

I'm very happy with my Sidi Canyon. They have a lovely wide fit, which is hard to find.

TCX Infinity for winter, Daytona Spirit XCR for the rest of the year. Both Gortex lined and very sturdy but comfortable.

Depending on how I'm feeling I use either Daytona M Star boots or Forma Adventure boots - both are extremely comfy with the Daytonas edging it a bit.

D.

Same here... but have you found a way to stop the squeak?

Nope

I have tried all sorts from WD40 to silicon grease. the squeak goes away for a few hours and then its back

I like to tell people it is character

Before any one buys a new pair of Daytona boots bear in mind that you can send these back to Daytona for a refurb.
New zips, re soled, any damage fixed, et cetera for about a third the price of a new pair and then good to go for another ten years.
I have a pair of Daytona Road Star's which are very comfy and totally waterproof for everyday use.
I also have a pair of Sidi Adventures which are getting a refurb soon as I am planning on wearing these on the Globebusters TransAm ride next year. They are higher up the leg and have a bit more protection than the Daytona's and despite not being particularly waterproof any more they are the best boot for the trip. Plus a pair of waterproof socks is a damn sight cheaper than a new pair of boots.

+1 for these.... best boot I have ever had.. go to the factory in Richmond in Yorkshire if you can. Great ride out and new boots:thumby::clap

What they said, warm comfortable, waterproof and treated 2x yr with Leder gries. Just like Daytonas option to be re sold or repaired.

If they're not waterproof try taking them back.
I had the same problem with mine and despite the fact I had no receipt etc (although they were clearly looked after) Two wheel centre at Mansfield sent them back to the importers and either they or Sidi replaced them FOC.
Top marks to all concerned from me!:clap
PS Guess what I'll be buying and who from when/if they finally wear out!:thumb2

Altberg Clubman Roadster Microlite.

I would agree, but I threw mine out last year after 10 years of sterling performance. The left boot had started to leak through the gearchange pad area, but unfortunately with 1000's of gearchanges carried out over those years, the boot had developed what can best be described as a dent into that gearchange area too. This made the left boot very uncomfortable when off the bike walking about. I'd probably buy another pair, but needed a new pair of boots in a hurry last year and bought these Alpinestars gore-tex jobbies. So far, pretty well impressed....broke in easily, they're comfy and totally waterproof so far. I like them....:thumb2

Nice idea but I've had them far too long for that. I first found I had wet feet in France in June 2015, and they were at least 4 years old then!
I have found a really good company in Kent (GB Bike Leathers) who are going to resole them and see what they can do to make them water tight.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I have bought some Alpinestars Shoes J-6 WP Black for an up an coming trip to the Pyrenees in the summer light and easy to walk in, perfect with Kevlar jeans.

Ok no shin protection which is a bit of a calculated risk but easier for stopping and looking around towns rather than sweating in all your clobber.

Supposed to be waterproof will find out on the trip.

BMW Gravel Boots for the last 18 months. Very dry and comfortable. May give those Sidi boots a go next time though

+ 1 for Forma

Forma boots for me, in a 14. bloody marvellous boot nuff said.

Have a pair of 3/4 length brown Forma boots. More comfy than full length also have a good grippy sole for when off bike. See ebay about £140 (special price at Excel bike show £220:confused:)

I would say (I really can't remember!) mine were at least as old as that.
The guy at TWC did say Sidi did a resoling service (for I think about £70?), which I would quite happily have paid for but he then advised that it was better to establish where they were leaking first.
He did say that was the first pair that they'd ever had back.

Have a great touring bike with loads of storage and if I can I like to divest myself of all things bikey when I bimble out and have a stop, spesch if it's warm, and, as a result, look more like a normal human rather than clumping around in a shit load of gear that, by and large, is unsuitable for walking around in.

Started wearing Altberg Hoggs a few years ago and whilst they might sacrifice ultimate protection to upper shins, they work well on the bike and you can walk around to your hearts delight whilst still sporting a reasonable amount of protection.

Altberg Roadrunners for day to day and a pair of BMW Dry Sneakers, which are nice and comfy on and off the bike.
